I recently attended the owners Open Forum at my Resort in Europe. question was asked about when or if the resorts in Europe would join the new DC points system.

The answer given by MVCI was that the 4 resorts in Europe would not be joining the DC points system and weeks would be the ongoing sales.

However a points overlay scheme was being considered for weeks owners that would allow them to become part of some as yet unspecified points system ! Sounded very much like the MVCIAP points overlay system. The objective being to give owners some more options in using their TS weeks.
No details were available as to what this overlay scheme might look like or cost.

This does mean that for the foreseeable future, owners at the 4 European resorts will still have to use II to exchange internally between Marriott resorts and thus be hindered by the lack of availability at USA resorts that the DC has brought about. This is especially a hinderance since using II to exchange in the Flexchange period into a USA resort for an EU based owner is really not viable due to the difficulty in getting good short notice air fare deals from Europe to the USA.

No explanation as to why - just a strait-forward statement that the 4 EU resorts would not be joining the DC points systemn and nor would MVCI (soon to be MVCW) be setting up a points system in Europe to sell points. They would continue to sell weeks.

As Son Antem (now 99.9% sold out) MVCI have implemented a buy back programme where they will buy back weeks from owners (Plat, Gold Holiday & Gold weeks but NOT Silver) for a price that is around what the market is paying in the resale arena. Owners who had expressed an interest in selling their weeks have been contacted.

Do you know what the market is paying for plat weeks at Son Antem?

Never an easy question to answer since there is little reliable information on actual sales prices. However I will pm you with what I paid for my resale Gold week. My guess would be that a plat week would be slightly higher. Prices may have fallen again in the 2 years since I purchased my resale week.
