We bought a timeshare in Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta 2 years ago. We paid extra for a unit they showed us had a full kitchen, stove semi large refrigerator. I have food issues so need to prepare most of our food. Last year when we went for 2 weeks they suggested the Sea Garden and. Verified it had a full kitchen that we required. We paid about $1800 for 2 weeks with an older “average” timeshare unit. The college dorm size refrigerator was small and the freezer melted food and leaked, the 2 burner stove would heat up then stop. Maintenance came 3-4 times and could never fix it. What a mess!
last year we began having health problems and being seniors finally decided our traveling days have to end.
We were very upset and angry with the only 2 weeks we used the resort not only due to the unit was subpar but the awful pressure from sales people even after we purchased and wanted us to upgrade. The whole trip was spoiled with all this hassle. Now we can’t use it due to our health also.
We have made a down payment and 25 monthly payments on the contract. Can we cancel the contract and/or get some money back?
Can anyone help 2 old people with this?

We're sorry you were taken advantage of. This doesn't make me feel good, but simply stop paying. They will send some letters, but they have no hold on you. You don't own anything and their only tool is to stop your membership and that's what you want anyway. You will NOT be refunded any of the money you've paid. Their letters might indicate they can issue dings to your credit, but in reality, there is almost zero chance that will happen. Sorry for the hard truth but it is what it is. Good Luck!

We wish you well. Please stay safe so we can all get back to traveling.

Could you elaborate on the chance of dings to your credit? I'm also a vidanta owner who would like to escape.

Jim, many thanks for your quick response. It is at least reassuring we can STOP the hemorrhaging of money for something we cant use. That in itself is a relief.
God bless you. Sisty
