Be careful, Equivest points fetch nothing (literally) on the resale market. I can imagine Fairfield/Wyndham doing everything they can to devalue them as they were an inherited "liability" when FF bought Equivest out in 2002.

John is right. This is an orphan points program that is steadily shedding members and inventory. FF has recently been selling weeks it still owned at Outer Banks Beach Club I and II to individual owners, and it had been largely sold out as regular timeshare weeks to individual owners BEFORE they started selling points.

The ability of any points program to hose their members this way is one reason I have absolutely no interest in any of them. Some points programs in countries where points have been around longer have launched ''new'' points programs that made the ''older'' points programs of the same developer largely worthless.

I wish I knew enough about this topic to know if I should bid on this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260084004363&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:12

You get this year's use free, and free II membership (is that every year?).

AND, the seller is paying closing fee.

Any guess on approximately what this is worth/will sell for?

to Moderator---I have no ties to this sale---except I wish I knew more about the program. Also, perhaps this should be moved to a "Points" or "Fairfield" Forum.

I'm not sure the MF they stated is correct on this one. It's less than the MF for 2600 Equivest Points tied to their St. Thomas (STT) properties.

If it is correct, the price is good ONLY because their are no closing costs and 2007 is free. These often sell for $1 on Ebay with a bunch of closing cost. I was never impressed with the Equivest portfolio other than two of the three on STT.

Well, it sold for $261.50.

Please explain why this wasn't a VERY good deal.

(or, was it?)

Pat

p.s. I still think this should be posted in a different Forum Board

The maintenance fee was correct. If you read the fine print, it was only for a 1,700 point annual membership. The 3,400 was due to a carryover of 1,700 points from the previous year. 1,700 points is sufficient for a red season 1BR II exchange. It would not be enough for a prime season week 1BR at any of the EVTC resort network beach resorts. I was surprised at how much it sold for.

As for the former Equivest resorts in St. Thomas, EVTC never owned any intervals at those resorts. For a few years, they had a few intervals at Bluebeard's Beach Club under some arrangement with Equivest, but that arrangement has terminated.

Pat, e-mail me if you want to learn more.
