If you get an HGVC or affiliate with EOY usage (regardless of whether it's even or odd years):

1) Do you only pay the MF "every other year"? So if the MF are say, $1,000 you either pay $500/year or $1,000 every 2 years?

2) Can you also rescue/borrow points? For example if you have "even year" usage, you have say, 2012 points. Can you "rescue" those into 2013 and use them then? And then in 2013, "borrow" from 2014?

If you buy an EOY usage, you pay MF on only use years.
Not 50% each year.
Yes, you can rescue and borrow points.

IMHO the EOY option is one of the best bargains in the HGVC system, especially if you can travel on short notice. We have one and have a hard time justifying adding another one or trading for an every year of the same size, even if it was given to us for free.

I agree with you. In the one short year and a half that I've owned my 5K biennial, I've done 2 points stays and 3 open season stays. I'm finding that I use open season more than my points. Probably could have gotten by with a smaller contract. I'm even finding that I'll probably be saving points for next year which I never thought I'd be doing. Those open season rates are just too tempting to use points many times so I'm only using my points for the hard to get stuff which luckily hasn't been too much so far. :D

That's what I thought too, but I just got my 2012 bill on an odd year contract I picked up recently, charging me taxes. There are no maintenance charges, but I thought the taxes would be every-other-year as well.

On my EOY's, mf's and taxes are billed EOY, but club dues are billed EY. (My club dues are associated with one of my EOY's, and I pay club dues on that one EY).

Which resort do you own?
Most of the MF has property tax included in it, but some states (like CA and NYC) send tax bill separate.
