Hello experts . I decided to open a new thread with my question.
I am purchasing a 3 bedroom lock off seafront resale at playa Andaluza. There was no ROFR on this unit as it was waived. I tried to purchase one before and enroll my other resales and they were asking $40,000. That’s why I jumped on this when I saw it for resale.
What do you guys think about enrolling this unit with a purchase? I need a strategy to enroll my units. I hate all the fees associated with exchanging and cancellations.

My other unenrolled weeks are MOW gold, MGC platinum, SBP gold plus x2 . I have been exchanging my MOW for MGO and staying at SBP then visiting MOW for a beach day. My MGC is my trader.
Or maybe go thru vistana enroll the Marriott units as it’s cheaper over there? It’s just that I don’t need or want anymore staroptions/homeoptions etc.

Enrollment is a personal (and very expensive) decision.

Things work just fine for me using Interval International. Not as flexible as points but it doesn't cost nearly as much.

Best of luck!

There are offers from MVC in Spain to buy another week in order to enrol resale week(s).
We do own 3Br units in both Club Son Antem and Playa Andaluza, which we bought direct from MVC way back in 2003 and both of these are enrolled.
However, we also bought resale another 3Br Gold unit in Club Son Antem back in 2014 for £4,300 and we have been looking for a chance to enrol that too.
Finally last year we did this by buying a 1Br Gold unit in Marbella Beach Resort for £11,800.
There may perhaps be better offers, but this is the best we have found over the years to achieve our objective and give us 3,625 electable points for the Club Son Antem week and 2,225 electable points for the Marbella Beach Club week.

That price is to enroll one week only though. Correct? I technically have 3 weeks. My MOW, MGC and the playa Andalusia the one I am purchasing now. These are the ones costing me lock off and exchange fees. If I cannot make it to Spain then converting the playa week to Abound points would be great.

Correct this was just to enrol the 1 week.
We now only have 2x 2Br Club Son Antem Gold unenrolled weeks, all our other weeks are now enrolled.
Ideally we would like to enrol those too, but for us that is a “nice to have” rather than a “must have” as we have always used those for home resort stays.
The Sales teams in Spain do have offers to enrol multiple weeks, by buying more expensive / more weeks.
I didn’t take too much notice of the details for those, as that was not our priority, but you could ask them.

A couple years ago we bought an Aruba Ocean Club 1BR unit from MVC in order to enroll an annual NCV and two EOY MKO’s, which equates to two annuals in total. You could enroll more with an annual 2BR unit. I believe it worked the same as buying units in Spain from MVC.

I own 3 resale 1B units in Marbella. I've been offered the opportunity to enroll these weeks via either purchasing MVC Trust Points (there are different quantities required depending upon how many weeks you want to enroll); and I've been offered enrollment by purchasing additional weeks in Marbella, provided I met a spending threshold. Since my weeks are 1B units, my spending threshold in 2023 was 16k euro. If I bought something directly from MVC for at least 16k euro, then one of my weeks would be enrolled. There really isn't any loophole that you can jump through to get your resale weeks enrolled cheaply. The least expensive means I found was to buy a week outside of the USA, and then negotiate which resale weeks will be enrolled. For example, in St Kitts I was offered the ability to spend $25k on a week and then I would be able to enroll two of my three resale weeks. So, technically that was cheaper on a per week basis than the deal to buy one more week in Marbella for 16k euro. And, both were much less costly than the deal offered in the USA, which was to buy 4000 new Trust Points at a cost of $44k to enroll all three of my resale weeks (that offer was some time ago).

A couple of years ago I feel there were opportunities where it was reasonable for SOME to enroll with a retail purchase. Starting with last years program, the prices have gone up so much and the flexibility for exceptions have been non existing such that it may not be reasonable for anyone to enroll unless they are going to buy retail or points anyway. I did inquire recently about enrolling 2.5 weeks (one EOY) and was given a number of choices. To enroll all 3 was in the $55K range for either a Platinum Sea Front 2 BR or 3 Gold 2BR weeks. The best up front price on a Per Points basis was just a fraction over $6 PP but the better week options were more in the $8.50 PP. Fees ranged from around 40¢ PP up to 55¢ PP. We also discussed only enrolling 2 weeks and there were no better offers available other than just doing 2 Gold weeks rather than 3 Gold weeks on a week per week basis.

Ok I will just keep checking until something good comes up or May just go with Vistana.

I've not seen any indication over the past 5 years that things will get better, cheaper or more flexible. I can't speak to the Vistana side.

If you are buying resale to enroll, why not buy the 3BR Platinum Seafront? I think it's 5600 points vs 4100 for the Gold for the same MF. That's a big difference that would justify the higher upfront resale cost (and your enrollment cost would be the same).

I don't think they are looking to buy more resale, they have those already. They are buying the Gold direct. I am sure a 3BR Plat Seefront is a lot more expensive when buying direct vs the gold they are looking at.

Because I don’t plan on going to Spain during platinum season and thus paying the extra large upfront cost.

Yes way more money. Plus I plan to use my gold week during that season as that’s when I want to go. I would like to have all my resales enrolled. I know I have talked about it a lot . As Dean says it does not look like Marriott is going to offer a great deal. So I may have to go the Vistana route. I will keep going to the updates and see what they offer before my trip to Spain next year.

I'm curious if Marriott Vacations is enrolling Marriott weeks with a Vistana purchase. I have seen some differing reports on that. If you can enroll through Vistana, three VOIs only costs a at least $20,000. It is much higher on the MVC side.

Initial offer was $49450 - $21,000 equity for 2 SVR resales. I think I would pay like $28,000 to retro the 4 weeks. I would get 67,000 staroptions for that price . 1959 abound points. My figures might be a little off

Just curious- have you actually crunched the numbers on how much you would save on fees by enrolling?
That’s the only reason you mention for enrolling- you haven’t mentioned wanting points for flexibility of stay length or selecting view, etc- seems like you would still exchange?

Sounds like you have 3 MVC and if you lock off maybe 6 exchange fees plus some eplus (you would still have to pay the upsize), MVC dues instead of II membership (or maybe in addition if you still have unenrolled weeks).

I feel like if you have a concrete number for how much you would save by enrolling you could make a judgement on whether/ how much you should spend to enroll and so know when you find the right deal.

Yes I have and it would take about 18 years to break even and probably less as I am sure these fees will increase as time goes by.
makes more sense now with the 3 bedroom seafront at playa although I will be using that for the most part. I don’t upsize only 1 bedrooms needed.
Everything else I have is enrolled.

It would actually take about 15 years to break even. For 5 exchanges and 2 lockoffs .
Thats if I exchange the Spain week each year which I will not. Also assuming cost to exchange does not increase for that time period which it probably would.

Lockoff fees: $90*2= $180
Exchange fees: $164*5= $820
Interval Membership = $99
E-plus fees: $89*5= $445

Annual total= $1544

Are you already paying club fees? If not you should subtract those from your savings. I suspect they'll go up regularly as well.
