Hello- I've been thinking about picking up a resale 3BR Grande Vista or Grand Chateau EOY contract to dip my toes into trading. I was also thinking of what it would take to get it enrolled. Has anyone had experience enrolling an EOY contract? For instance would upgrading an enrolled silver week to gold be sufficient to enroll an EOY contract? Upgrading would be an additional ~900 MVC points. I appreciate any insight you wonderful people may have. Thanks.

It will end up costing you a whole lot of money to enroll a resale week (maybe $30,000 or so?) regardless if it is every year or every other year. Definitely not worth it in my opinion.

You'd be far better off buying that week and using Interval International as your trading mechanism. You'll get two trades with a 3 bedroom purchase EOY purchase.....

Thanks! I wasn't sure what the cost would be. That is definitely more than what I plan to spend to enroll.

They won’t simply sell you a gold week to upgrade to. You enroll the EOY week by buying trust points. Probably a minimum of 2,500 of them. Maybe even 3,000. It wouldn’t make sense to enroll an EOY week this way. Best to enroll an annual.

As of a few months ago this would cost a minimum of $36,300 with a the purchase of an Aruba or St. Kitt's week or just points, the same as an EY week. Spain might be less but I don't have those details. Two EOY counts the same as one EY week. Just to save on lock off fees and exchanging, this would not be reasonable IMO. As for the 3BR option, I generally don't see it worth it over the 2 BR. In general it's often best to buy two 2BR over a 3BR, or in this case possibly an EY 2BR, but it does depend on the price specifics so compare the two option.

Resale weeks are sold at bargain prices compared to the equivalent number of points you would need for a week. Of course, maintenance fees are also more expensive. Also, I think these days you have a better chance of getting the week you want through Interval rather than using points. The big advantage to points is being able to select and use only the days you want if you can get them.

You can currently enrol an otherwise ineligible week (FY or EOY) with the purchase of a Spain resort week for under $15,000.
