We have a short stay at FA in Cabo. Since AI is mandatory now, I booked a hotel room rather than a timeshare unit. It’s a great deal on points and with AI, we really don’t need a kitchen. The food seems better than the last time we were here.

We got bribed to do the tour for 15% off AI and an upgraded room from a booked double to a King Ocean View. The room and view are wonderful.

The salesman was very pleasant and our “offer‘ was 5000 (old points, FA hasn’t converted) for 43k. We politely declined and said our goodbyes.

I think if we return we will continue to book the hotel rooms. You are way closer to the pool and restaurants and with mandatory AI, we don’t need a large room.

What does that mean if they haven't converted points? Would it be FA points only, no conversion to HGVC or would the point conversion be done if you gave up the week for HGVC points? Did you get a quote on the maintenance fees on 5000 FA points?

Hotel room booking seems like the smart move.

JSX has direct flights to Cabo from LAX or DFW, travel like a rock star...

I guess I mean FA hasn’t done the 1.6 multiplier in its own system. I imagine if you were trying to book HGV with FA, it would be at the same point level as HGV.

how much was AI?

how many points are the hotel rooms compared to TS units?

is what you call a hotel room the "studio" in the specific resort info?

AI is $150 pp. We got 15% off for the tour. The hotel rooms are under a different listing from the Villas. They are basically the same size as the studios in the villa section but much closer to the pools and restaurants rather than being up the hill.

You can get resale for nearly free if you are willing to take your time. Transfer fee is only $100 since it is RTU. I have heard horror stories about attending a TS presentation in Mexico but we have attended several at FA-Cabo. My experience has always been pleasant with no lies or BS from the salesperson. Now, they are certainly trying to make a sale. I think that HGV sales staff could learn from them.

MFs are $0.2371/pt.

Many years ago, while in grad school, my then gf and I attended one in Puerta Vallarta. It was short enough and we got a bottle of tequila and transport to the airport, which was sufficient at the time for grad students.

Cheers.

I’m definitely not in the market. The only location I really care about is Los Cabos. The other FA properties really aren’t that appealing to me.

Interesting note: Salesman said the ocean course is no longer available to members. You have to be a member if Cabo del Sol. Desert course can still be booked.

The construction around here is massive. The Four Seasons is building villas. It’s a huge project. Thankfully, you don’t really notice it once you’re inside the resort.

I’m with you on that. The FA in Cozumel was not worth the points. I kinda knew that but had to burn some points post Covid.
IMHO, FA Cabo is nicer than HGVC La Pacifica (the time share side, did not stay in a hotel room at either).

Food is superior at the Hilton. More expensive but clearly better.

We both got food poisoning from a dish we shared at the Mexican restaurant so my opinion is biased  I think the AI options at FA were less restrictive but its been a few years.

FA has some premium items that are an extra charge on the menu like Lobster. La Bodega steakhouse has a $30pp surcharge to have dinner. So far, we’ve been pleased. Dinner at Blu the first night was decent. Last night at Rosato was hit and miss. A couple of items were really good but the lasagna was a pile of salt. Breakfast is amazing and lunches are very good. House wines are blech.
