Encore Presentation question

Hi. Quick question, if you don’t mind. As I recall, the Encore package is something you are offered at the end of a presentation if you don’t buy? Is that correct?

We haven’t done a presentation in the last two trips (they get too cranky and we dont want to deal with that on a vaca). However, I am looking to get back to HH this Fall and my week usage is for next year(legacy week owner). Just wondering if they still offer specials to sit and listen or if I can buy an encore package to use soon.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Dee

Yes, they still offer Encore packages after you complete an owner’s update (er, sales presentation.) It locks in the price for a year or so and requires another sales presentation when you return.

They also may offer a different opportunity for a short stay at a number of different resorts with the price being dependent on which resort and time of year you want to stay. You don’t have to attend a presentation in order to purchase this package, but you do have to attend one when you use the stay.

I understand that MVC customer service may offer a promo package on the phone if you call them. They tried to sell me one but I was already in an Encore package and didn't qualify.

Not all Encore packages are worth it as to value---sometimes you can do better other ways.
HOWEVER, many Encore packages are great deals. Just depends on several factors, so give it some thought and don't immediately dismiss it
just because they're "trying to sell you something".
Listen to what it is first.

The "promo" stays are usually Fantastic deals, and we seldom turn them down.
We even got a call from Hilton after staying at a Hilton hotel for a business meeting, and we bought it.
I initially kept saying "NO" and the rep kept sweetening the deal, and finally I got an offer I COULDN'T refuse!!!

Yes..MVC customer service offered a preview vacation package of 4 days and 3 nights at Custom House in Boston for $399 a few months ago..We accepted and booked the stay for May 2025 and added 3 nights using Abound Points….It will be our first stay at the Custom House.

Sounds like a great deal and I will consider this for next year when I am eligible again.

Its a great deal.....We had a week at the Custom House booked with points right before Covid hit and had to cancel the trip.....We jumped at the MVC Club offer.

Please look at the total deal as well as alternatives to "their" deal.

We were offered a 5 night Encore stay at Ocean Watch (OW) for $3,350 payable in monthly installments over 14 months. All but $100 of the $3,350 could be used as a credit against a points purchase and the points price was frozen thru the Encore presentation date. Encore stay reservations could be made for a 24 month period (but not great views and not great seasons available at OW). The best part was a 4,000 Plus Points grant after the presentation. I don't think it is a bad deal if one intended to play it out until the end and buy the points "from MVC."

Of course, there are better alternatives to buying points from MVC.

Peruse the last minute offered forum regularly and you are likely to find something without the need to attend any presentation.

I don't see many Marriott weeks being offered in the last minute rental forums.

Another comparison to check in II getaways. Especially when in places like Scottsdale, Orlando, or Palm Desert. Often the Encore Packaes are more expensive than a getaway and when you travel on a getaway you are likely to be invited to a presentation where they will offer about half the gift amount as you are getting from an Encore. With a getaway you also get 7 nights instead of just four or five.

Take a look at redweek. For ~$3800 you can get a 5 day oceanfront during Platinum season.

Im not sure they really want to buy, it read to me as if they just wanted to get to HH for a fall vacation this year instead of waiting another year. Definitely agree on the getaways.

That’s correct. We dont want to buy. We are already week owners, just already used this years week.

I appreciate all your responses. We decided to head up to the Berkshires for fall foliage season!

Post #12 above - the offered deal above was not a bad deal from an arbitrage perspective. It is essentially a "$0 cost 5 night stay" at Ocean Watch for payments of $3,300 offset by the grant of 4,000 Plus Points. Added favorable potentials are that the $3,300 can be applied to a points purchase and the price of the points are frozen for two years or until the Encore stay is used.

Your $3,800 rental prospect would be roughly $4,200 with the resort taxes for a 5 night Ocean Front stay in prime time, likely Sunday check-in, Friday check-out.

The arbitrage play at a net $0 cost is actually be the better deal. The deal is enhanced further by the freeze of the point price for up to 2 years.

It depends when you want to go. I could be wrong but summer season could be tough to get and it's probably a garden view. Enjoy!

Would love to hear about your experience in the Bershires. I saw a resort on II and wondered what it was like, if it was worth it.
