Hi there,

Last February I purchased an Encore Package at the Westin Lagunamar. The terms of the contract which I signed indicate that I will receive 150,000 SPG points, NOT 150,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. When I asked about this before I signed, the sales rep was surprised that the paperwork indicated SPG points in multiple places. Given that the conversion from SPG points to Marriott Bonvoy points was 3x, what do you suggest I do to maximize my chances of getting 450,000 Bonvoy points, representing the agreement that I initialed and signed? I have to imagine that if the tables were turned and I signed a document buying a Vistana timeshare, I would be required to pay them in the agreed upon currency, or the equivalent amount. I.e, I couldn't arbitrarily decide that instead of paying $42,000 USD I will pay the same quantity of a lower valued dollar, i.e., Zimbabwe dollars. Thoughts?

When we purchase and encore package last March the documents also listed it as Starpoints; however, you probably also signed another disclaimer somewhere else stating that you acknowledge that BonVoy points will replace the term Starpoints in all other documents. I do remember signing this specifically even though it wasn't on the same page.
