Thanks. Now to find a renter before Thursday. And an upgrade.

Good luck! I had it listed for a couple of months and never even had a nibble.

Are you looking for an unit to upgrade to or upgrade from? I had the 3BR Pres unit for 162,500, having upgraded and taken a discount from a unit with a full price of 325,000 points.

Yes it is really the only way that it works. I am sure I will throw it back tomorrow.

It is a slow time there where lots of full ownership condos are available for much less.

Looks like someone upgraded to the 3BR Pres from a 3BR Pool View.

Great resort but it isn't cheap. I think 162.5K points is a floor.

Right now, the 3BR Pool View and the 3BR Presidential are both available.

I'd go myself if I hadn't just taken Thanksgiving week off work.

I got december 11 and 18 for a week in 3 bedroom deluxe units. Still a lot of points but have some time to see if I can move them.

The December 18th week could be a hard sell. Check out on Christmas Day?

I've got January 15 (3BR+ Pres) and February 5 (3BR+). Might use one or the other. I hope to get a good deal on an early May reservation, just before the points charge goes up, but I need to generate some points by re-booking or just cancelling. Went last year the first week in May and it was delightful.

Or someone changes units on the 25th or kept in the same room.

But it is clear that when it comes to holidays as Wyndham points system is great it is not always easy to get reservations that span the nights one wants.

For those that have been here before... which would you prefer, a 3BR Plus Bay view or 3BR plus Harbor View?

Of the two, take Harbor View. Bay View means the unit faces north, toward the Choctawatchee (sp?) .

We stayed in a Harbor View unit last spring. It faced east. We has sun on the balconies until about noon.

Emerald Grande has 3BR Plus units but I don't know what that means as far as a view is concerned. Also, Pool View, which I presume means facing inward. But if that is correct, Pool View units would also have a view of the harbor.

If you have a unit number, the attachment might help. Otherwise, I'd call the resort.

Note that some of the units have bunk beds in the third BR. That bumps up the max occupancy but is not going to be useful unless it is a couple of families with up to four compatible children.

I have been thinking about trading into this resort for quite a long time.
Those that have been there, is the resort as nice as it looks on line?
Also, I have never been to Destin. Is there much to do there?
Thanks, Sue

I can't speak for the inside of Emerald Green but Destin is nice. We stayed down at Majestic Sun when we were scrimping for points. The beach in that area is nice and flat and large -- apparently more undertow than many beaches however. The harbor walk around the Emerald Green is delightful .. a winding boardwalk with a mix of fishing boats, upscale onshore restaurants and cute little locally owned bars / restaurants.

Yes, tons of things to do although I'm not sure about off-season. Destin is not far enough south to have predictably warm weather in the winter so things like jet ski rentals and deep sea fishing might be seasonal. During a visit last May, we found everything in full swing. Boats and jet skis were flying all around the bay area, fishing boats in and out, nice warm water at the beach.

Things to consider: (1) Emerald Grande is a mixed use facility -- Wyndham has access to some units, some are privately owned . (2) Most units are 3BRs. There are some 1BR units but I don't recall ever seeing one available through Wyndham. (3) 3BR units have different floor plans and views and the price in points varies accordingly. (4) Unlike most Wyndham resorts, Presidential units are on lower floors. They overlook HarborWalk Village and have reserved parking practically outside the door. (5) Units are expensive. Even with a 50% VIP Platinum discount, the cheapest unit goes for 162,500 points off-season. Undiscounted units in prime season go for 550,000 points, more than most Wyndham owners have in their accounts. (6) There is on on-site beach and the beach is not on the Gulf. You take a free shuttle to a private beach where you are met by attendants who take pretty good care of you.

Emerald Grande is an exceptional facility. The quality of the units is way above average Wyndham quality.
