I have been thinking about trading into this resort for quite a long time.
Those that have been there, is the resort as nice as it looks on line?
Also, I have never been to Destin. Is there much to do there?
Thanks, Sue
Yes, tons of things to do although I'm not sure about off-season. Destin is not far enough south to have predictably warm weather in the winter so things like jet ski rentals and deep sea fishing might be seasonal. During a visit last May, we found everything in full swing. Boats and jet skis were flying all around the bay area, fishing boats in and out, nice warm water at the beach.
Things to consider: (1) Emerald Grande is a mixed use facility -- Wyndham has access to some units, some are privately owned . (2) Most units are 3BRs. There are some 1BR units but I don't recall ever seeing one available through Wyndham. (3) 3BR units have different floor plans and views and the price in points varies accordingly. (4) Unlike most Wyndham resorts, Presidential units are on lower floors. They overlook HarborWalk Village and have reserved parking practically outside the door. (5) Units are expensive. Even with a 50% VIP Platinum discount, the cheapest unit goes for 162,500 points off-season. Undiscounted units in prime season go for 550,000 points, more than most Wyndham owners have in their accounts. (6) There is on on-site beach and the beach is not on the Gulf. You take a free shuttle to a private beach where you are met by attendants who take pretty good care of you.
Emerald Grande is an exceptional facility. The quality of the units is way above average Wyndham quality.
