I have several ongoing searches in II. I am also on the don't call list from II. Occasionally that gets switched off (by them not me) and the incessant calls start only for me to stop them again. If they only called when there was an actual near match it would be one thing but they robo dial and then connect to an agent who then looks up my search and sees that there is no matches or near matches and do I want to add any other resorts or make any changes.

Today for the first time I received an email with a "near" match. I have several marriotts in SC selected for summer dates. The alternative was a non marriott, not beachfront, non rated, resort in myrtle beach, no thank you. Apparently they are holding it for me until the end of the day. At least now they are offering alternatives. So that is a good thing.

I've been receiving these near matches for a while now -- at least from June 2019 when I look back at my email history.

Most of these have not been even close to what I want as you point out in terms of quality. However, I don't mind if it is by email. Unfortunately, they still call the same day to verify which is annoying...

My issue with the “near” and not very near at all alternate matches is that it doesn’t look for anything else while that alternate match is being held for you for the 24 hour time period

In my experience they are as near as the Moon. Several times I was offered a studio in an all inclusive when I requested 2 BR in an non-all inclussive. I am wondering why they keep on calling people, I guess some owners do accept their proposals.
