Email from MVC about use of club points

I havent received a letter and a grand residence owner with enrolled fractionals.

They must not consider you a Bad Boy!! 😉

Aren't "Club Points" now called Abound? In addition the OP didn't specify commercial use. "I received an email reminder that reservations using club points cannot be rented."
At the risk of mansplaining…forgive me if I am…

You can rent points no problem on sites like VPE, and then use those points to book your own reservations. I think by placing a 20,000 on incoming transfers MVC has really condoned that activity, obviously up to a point.

The question here is about a member booking a room with points and then renting that room to someone else. That’s where the grey area lies. I have a feeling that what they really don’t like are folks that book hot reservations at 13 months and then squat on them until they find a renter. This happens a lot I think in Vegas with the F1 weekend.

Not saying that we are totally clean, but we’ve never done anything like booking rooms speculatively and we book many many weekends in Tahoe for personal use. We rarely ask for a name change, except on our deeded weeks. I’m hoping that puts in the right shade of grey. We have five or six rooms booked for MLK but they are all for family, and have every weekend in winter booked for our own use. Perhaps that’s what earned us the letter and not some other owners.

Does anyone have experience with recording these "renting promises"? We haven't gone to a presentation in years, but next time I might. I bought this new Pocket device that records conversations very accurately.

Check local law. Some states allow it so long as one party to the conversation is aware of the recording. Other states require the consent of all parties to the recording. So, if an "all party" state, you would be violating state law in doing so unless you, of course, first get their permission to record (which then means they will be on their best behavior and you might miss all of their creativity).
