TUG Fam,
So I booked a girls' trip for May (Elara). I understand the cancellation protection ($64) is not normally advised (seen as a waste of money by some) since one could easily just push a reservation forward 30 days or more (as long as using the same or more pts as the original reservation). Because I was using A LOT of points (way more than I would normally) due to getting a much larger than normal unit (8 of us for girls' trip vs normally just 2 of us), AND because people sometimes are flaky, I decided to book this reservation with the cancellation insurance.
Elara is closed through May so HGVC cancelled my reservation. I haven't seen the booking fee ($67) refunded yet, but I'm wondering if they will also refund the cancellation protection since THEY cancelled my reservation vs me cancelling it. Note that I am NOT COMPLAINING about them cancelling or the resort being closed (let's all continue to stay home until this is resolved!!), but am wondering if anyone has received the credit for the cancellation protection? Or are they just refunding booking fees? And again, THEY cancelled it (and sent me an email), not me...
Thanks in advance!
