Anyone ever stayed at El Cid in Cozumel? The resort is available for February, so we are considering it. Does anyone know if we can pay the resort for the all-inclusive option when we get there? The reviews on trip advisor are pretty good, but I don't know if Wyndham's inventory is the same as the hotel inventory that others hve reviewed on Tripadvisor. Any opinions of the resort would be appreciated.
Thanks:)

yes you will be able to pay wen you get there. They may have a special pay 3 days and get the 4th free. Or you can just pay for 24 hours at a time. That way you just pay for it when you plan to actually stay on the resort.

I was at EL Cid La Ciba last November and am going back in a few weeks. It is a very nice little resort - there is a bit of snorkling right out in front of the hotel. The big downside is that the club is right next to the cruise ships - so they disturb the view a bit and the hotel does open itself up to day users. I've only stayed in the studios which have partial kitchen (not sure if the 1 BD rm has full or not). The Studio works well if you don't want to do all inclusive or eat at the hotel the whole time (or if you want to pick up some of your own beer or such). The hot tub next to the bar is a GREAT feature. Cozumel is great - if you snorkle or scuba - wonderful = also going over to plya de Carmin is nice. It is not inconvenient to see Myan Ruins on mainland and on Cozumel. If you are looking for a resort with lots of activities and such - this is not it. But if you want a low key place to hang out, enjoy some sun and water and use as a base - it is good. I recommend NOT doing the timeshare presentation as it takes all day - they take you to their resort on the mainland (which is very nice) but you don't really have time to enjoy it (as least I did not).

Thanks for the info. Still not sure if we are going to go for it or stay in Riviera Maya. Flights into Cozumel are mega-expensive. Flights into Cancun are a lot cheaper, but then we would have to deal with a taxi to Playa and then take the ferry. Decisions...Decisions...

Try Mayan Air from cancun to cozumel. A really short flight. But I would think offers nice views of the area. I thought the limit on baggage was low when I was looking into it.

The Bus to Plya de Carmen is suppose to be cheap and easy - the ferry is very easy and the cabs are right there at the end of the ferry - but it is based on not having tons of luggage - 1-2 pieces at most -

Checked into the air - 100RT and limit to one bag 44 lb.

Just got back from Cozumel on a cruise. El CID is smack in the middle of town. No beach there and not walkable to a beach. Not exactly "resort like" if you ask me!

Wifi is free and is actually available in some rooms - I know this as I'm using it right now for el CID rm 2214 - the resort is NOT in the middle of town - it is right next door to one of the two main docks on the island - and the cruise ships are a major distraction

Great to know. I was thinking of staying thee and asked the VC who said they called the resort they were told that was the price. That made it an easy decision to skip the resort for this trip. But next time I will stay there.
