I was surprised to see this above when searching on Wyndham website. I've been looking for timeshare that is not mandatory all-inclusive. I've also wanted to visit Cozumel. However, the reviews on TUG are a bit negative.

Anybody have something nice to say -- and/or explain the relationship with Wyndham.

I stayed at El Cid La Ceiba beach hotel in cozumel. I don't recall it being a wyndham resort. But I used an ICE (registry vacations) certificate to stay there. It's a small "resort". It's on the part of cozumel where you have sea walls, and a bit of sand on the cement wall. It's a good value for the money. AI is optional. One restaurant (well 2 maybe if you count the other area). Snorkeling right there.

Is it as nice as the resorts further south? No. But it won't run you $1500-2000 for a week either.

I did post a review on TA, but that was 3 years ago? If you can get into the newer tower units, they're nicer.

Staff is very friendly.

I would stay again if I could get a tower unit.

I'll try to find my TA review.

Have stayed there several times. Definitely not 5 star, but if you want to stay on Cozumel, and don't want AI there aren't many choices. If you are going for the resort, don't do it. If you are going because you want Cozumel, then go for it.
Haven't been there for about 3 years, but I would go again if the opportunity arose.

There are 4 el Cid resorts that are affiliate resorts in the Wyndham system. I dont know the history at el Cid or any other affiliates. but I do know that I have Wyndham points from several affiliate resorts (El Cid, Royal Vacation Suites, Angel Fire, Causeway on the Gull and Vintage Landing) and in each case I can use these points at every other Wyndham resort and I can use all my other points at these locations (except Causeway on the Gull, i have no idea what that is)
