Earning Bonvoy points with Westin Villa rental

We rented a week at Westin Riverfront Villas in Avon through Redweek. Will I earn Bonvoy points or nights for this rental? I'm guessing I won't earn credit for the nights but maybe will earn points for incidental charges charged to the room? Also, I don't have an 8 digit confirmation number (only a 6 digit) to add to my Bonvoy account. Is that because it's Westin and not Marriott?

You should be able to get elite night credit. You won’t get points for the cost of your rent, but incidentals should be eligible spend for Bonvoy.

Westin reservations now run through the Marriott system so you should be able to have it added to your Bonvoy account. You may be seeing the Vistana confirmation number instead of the number coming from the hotel reservation system. You should be able to get the Marriott number.

Thank you. Would I get the Marriott number by calling Marriott or does the owner have to call?

The owner who you are renting from should received an email confirmation from Marriott with the 8 digit number - so they should have it already. I would ask them first.

Just one note: Vistana is still issuing guest confirmations with 6-digit Vistana numbers.

Ok, so I received the email confirmation from the owner and it has the 6 digit number. Would the owner have received a different confirmation with an 8 digit number or am I just SOL? I just don't want to bother the owner if I don't need to.

You aren't SOL at all - make it easy - present your Bonvoy number at check-in. That's actually what the resorts recommend.

You can call the resort, tell them you have a reservation in your name, they can look it up and give you the 8-digit confirmation number.

The owner should have received an email from reservations@res-marriott.com . The 8 digit number would be included there but likely won’t have the guest name.

Personally I like to ensure the reservation appears in my app for peace of mind. It also lets me know my Bonvoy number is attached to the reservation. Some say that Marriott status doesn’t matter at TS properties, and this is true for late checkout, preferred rooms etc. But I have seen them treat me a bit better when they know I’m a titanium member.

Below is what I get from Marriott (and is also what I have sent to Redweek as confirmation when they want to verify the reservation). The person you are renting from should have received something similar.

Clarification: When the owner ORIGINALLY made the reservation, up to 12 mos. before check-in, he may have received a Marriott format confirmation then, which he may or may not have kept.

But when he requested your guest confirmation, they only sent him a Vistana 6-digit confirmation.

When Marriott first started sending out duplicate confirmations, Vistana owners really didn't know what to make of it, so the owner may or may not have kept a Marriott confirmation number from several months ago. I'm finding that a lot of Vistana owners did not keep the Marriott confirmations, because they had a Vistana confirmation.

Depending on how the owner added the guest name, you may or may not be able to add your Bonvoy number. If they simply changed the guest name on Marriott.com, then you probably can't add your Bonvoy number. If they did it on Vistana.com, then you should be able to add it on Marriott.com.

Yes, I was able to add my reservation to my Bonvoy account. There were actually 2 confirmation numbers, one for the Master and one for the lock-off. :)
