early summer in Colorado

In late June, which would you pick Hyatt Main Street Station in Breckenridge or Mountain Lodge in Avon? I know nothing about either but have a family member who expressed interest in a summer trip to Colorado with the family. His kids are young so they aren't looking for too much adventure.

I would choose Breck over Avon even without the kids.

Yes, me too with Breck. It's a wonderful place to take kids. There is an alpine slide in summer, and there are so many things to do. Fishing is one thing our grandkids like.

I'm going to take the opposite view, especially since his kids are very young. Not taking anything away from Breck, but we prefer the Beaver Creek area- Hyatt Mountain Lodge is actually in Beaver Creek. This area is more centrally located than Breck, and it is an easy drive to Breck.

The Avon area has more difficult hiking trails while at Breck you can find easier hike there.

Hyatt Main Street Station is nicely located at the top of the Breckenridge shopping area. Plenty to see and do.

Just note that Breckenridge is higher altitude, if anyone traveling is sensitive to that. But we saw a few oxygen bars in Breck!
