Last time I flew into vail it was on a turbo prop. I appears that there are now "big planes" flying in there? anyone done this? I remember "dive bombing " dowan as soon as we cleared the ridge into the valley......can't imagine a "big plane" doing this......

We flew from NYC to Vail direct in January 2009 on a big plane. Don't remember anything special about the flight.

Last Summer the runway was lengthened 1000 ft to 6,000 ft. Not the longest, but very adequate for full-size jet service. Google ege airport for airline, flight and schedule info.

We flew into Eagle-Vail on a full size jet last winter, and I also don't remember anything unusual about the landing.

I've flown into EGE annually for about five years - always on a jet, no problem on takeoff or landing.

Aspen, OTOH, is one of the most dangerous airports in America. One of my pilot friends will not fly into it or allow his family to fly into it.

Agreed that EGE is no problem to land. Also agree that Aspen is quite "interesting" to land at. I'll add Telluride airport to the "interesting" list as well.

I love the direct flight from NYC to Vail. It's a great little airport. Now if they only flew direct from Westchester to Vail my happiness would be complete. They do fly direct to Paradise Island, though!
