I am 99% sure these e-mails etc are to try and set up a sales presentation, and I'm not interested - it's about stuff like the Members Table and HGV Presents which look like the gifts for a presentation. I'm currently ignoring them, but this is the first time I've gotten them in the lead up to a reservation. But it's also the first normal club points reservation I've gone on. It's from the Las Vegas Owner Executive.

Is this just trying to pre-register me for a presentation?

Yes. We have gotten these a couple of times for W. 57th reservations. A pretty good deal on these, but it has a presentation.

Cheers.

If it is in advance of a stay, then it is usually a ploy to sign you up for a presentation. Sometimes they may go with that they are the concierge and can help answer questions or book restaurant reservations. Which they will do, but mainly the goal is to sign you up for a presentation.

Mine have been very transparent, no attempt at subterfuge. Get this good deal and go to a presentation. I appreciate, at least, the honesty.

Cheers.

it's about stuff like the Members Table
I went to a dinner a few days ago while staying at the Elara. I got a call the day before the event, and my husband and I were invited to a group dinner at Rosa Mexicano restaurant in the Miracle Mile mall. I was very surprised that it really was a group dinner, and there was zero mention of sales. So it was just sitting at a table with other members, a full multi-course meal with drinks, and a live music duo performing during dinner. There was less than 5 minutes spent listening to someone from HGVC, but there was nothing sales related. I was shocked! It really was just dinner with other members.

Flamingo. It is a Choose your HGV Ultimate Access Experience. They are offering a Brazilian Steakhouse, but I can't see how it's not a sales pitch. Given I'm taking my mom and her friend, I'm not getting into a sales pitch lol.

I looked on the HGV Ultimate Access Experience website. I see zero mention of a sales presentation. But I can not say because I have never been to such an event.

I didn't know they had a website, but using Kagi to search for 'HGV Ultimate Access Experience' found 2 pages that each show something like the below:

*To attend HGV Ultimate Access events (valued between $500-$1500), Guests must attend a Membership Portfolio Review or Timeshare Presentation after the event, during their same stay. If you do not attend the Membership Review or Timeshare Presentation, the retail value of the event may be charged to your credit card. HGV Ultimate Access events are subject to availability, nontransferable and subject to change without notice. Experience fee applies, minimum of $99 per event, to be paid at time of booking. Offer dates may change due to event availability. Offers may not be used in conjunction with any other promotion.

So yes, trying to get you to go to a presentation as I figured.

It will require a sales pitch, typically the day after the dinner. It's in the fine print that you sign when you agree to participate in the "experience."

The dinners are usually good, but yes you will have to commit to a "60 minute" sales pitch within a day or two of the dinner. We've done a couple of them, but have come to the conclusion that it's simply not worth it. When we get calls to "owner updates" or "experiences" in advance of check-in, we ignore them.

Our rule is never EVER agree to talk to the concierge or anyone trying to pitch a "membership update," etc. If they are reaching out to the owner there is a 99.999% chance it's to talk the owner into a sales pitch under another name.

Sales are down and the salespeople are desperate. Not interested in having smoke blown up my butt or the high pressure tactics they are going to employ. Much better things to do with my time on vacation.

Can just one of the owners attend the experience? Or does the experience/sales presentation fine print require both owners to attend?

This has always been my experience also. It always rubs me the wrong way too when I hear their pitch for “owners update” at the end of their reason for contacting me. It is worse when they call my room after I turn them down on the owners update. Interestingly, the HGVC affiliates such as Valdoro and The Charter Club don’t ask owners for an owners update. Valdoro doesn’t even have a sales center onsite.
