II has getaways in Orlando that are plentiful. Does a RCI offer something similar and does DVC ever come up in a getaway type offering? Is exchanging into a DVC property with planning or last minute a realistic option?

Exchanging into DVC with some planning and sometimes "last minute" are both realistic options! Check the Sightings forum for recent DVC deposit history and availability in RCI.

Awwww! Don't forget there are rental options out there! But do consider exchanges through RCI for Saratoga Springs, Old Key West and sometimes Animal Kingdom Lodge/Kidani. We booked two last year (both Saratoga Springs) and I was toying with some upcoming SSR/OKW options posted this week! Good luck! Happy Hunting!

DVC sometimes appears on RCI rentals but not as excess inventory that would be cheap. The DVC weeks on RCI are typically $2000-$4000+

Got it. So probably easier to pay a bit more and rent from an owner? DVC rentals always seem so high.

I think exchanging into SSR is reasonably easy (though expensive:)) but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in a getaway. If you have tpu’s or points you ought to be able to get on property. While I own some DVC I’ve been able to get three weeks in the last two years via rci

wow...never have seen an extra vacation in RCI, cool to know, but not for the price tag.

They really only showed up during the depths of the recession when Disney was looking to try to rent inventory however they could. It was a good deal vs. list, but not a "good deal."
