If I set up a search with 56 tpus (example) and the ongoing search is for a studio will I be able to get matched with something bigger if it were available? Basically if there is a one bedroom available and I have the TPUs needed they would match my search?

I know if my search is for a 3 bedroom they won't match me with a 2 bedroom. At least that is what the RCI rep told me.

I don't think so. If you are platinum and there is space available, RCI may have a deal to upgrade you, but that would not be at the time of the exchange.

Well I learned something new today. I called RCI this morning and apparently even if you have your search set up for a studio if a bigger unit is available you will get a match. But only if you have the amount of TPUs needed for that unit.
