Trying to modify a reservation made with RCI exchange. I call 1-800-800-9800 Press 1 and Press Any option. I get three beeps and it hangs up. I tried Disney reservation support but they can't touch the reservation since it was DVC.

Any tips to actually talk to someone?

I ran into a similar issue. Their phone system can only handle a certain number of calls, so it hangs up on all calls above that threshold. You could try calling very first thing in the morning to see if that helps.

Just to get my MDE number took like 90 minutes.

Sorry, none that I know of. The most common complaint from DVC owners on DISboards is the lengthy hold times (4 hours!), getting busy signals, being cut off, etc. since the resorts reopened. It’s been even worse since DVC announced a special ticket discount and a separate special offer on Aulani, both requiring phone calls, at the same time. We have an RCI exchange into SSR in June, and I called around 12:30 on a Monday and waited “only” 50 minutes on hold. I was lucky!

Best advice is to call first thing in the morning, when the phone lines open. It seems to get only worse as the day goes on and other time zones "wake-up".

Maybe you can get the answer otherwise. In modify do you mean modify dates or some other reservation specifics or just the guests listed. The first is a waste of your time as I've never heard of a single incident where DVC has made any changes in view type, date, size, etc for an exchange.

I did finally get through. I only needed to remove a person and add a person to the reservation. Need to have my wife on the reservation because we are annual passholders. Having an onsite reservation lets us book more than 3 days of park reservations.
I did talk to two people and they said they are insanely busy booking trips, DVC, non-DVC, and cruiseline are all busy.

I have had a frustrating day with the DVC 800 number. I have a SSR exchange through RCI for April 11 and I have not received my DVC confirmation number. I was disconnected TWICE by the member services persons who were connecting me to the RCI agent to get me my reservation number - after waiting on hold 1.5+ hours each time! Anyone know if there is a direct number for the RCI agent at DVC or another way I can get my DVC reservation number? I tried the chat function with RCI but that was a no-go.

Suggestions??

Update: I tried again - I have been doing this all day, getting my fill of the Disney movie soundtracks playing on speakerphone while I am working on other things - I got through in just under an hour this time and when I explained to the agent that I had been disconnected 2x previously, she asked me for my name and RCI confirmation date and was able to look up me up and give me the reservation number without transferring me on... apparently they have the capability to handle the call they just typically do not. Lesson learned!

DVC MS is really, really busy for some reason. Probably not enough operators working and I heard they had contracted out MS operators, too.

My mom and I waited 15 minutes for her Westgate timeshare to pick up to book her Gatlinburg weeks. Westgate had a pre-recorded apology about the long hold time. I told mom be glad we didn’t have to call Disney Vacation Club - it would be a two hour wait at least if we could get through at all. Never thought I would see Westgate beat Disney on customer service. We have been DVC members since 2002 and I am amazed (not in a good way) by the terrible DVC hold times.
