Looking at a day trip from OLCC to Captivia/Sanibel...been years since I was there and want to take wife and family there for a day....best beach for shelling? Time to drive there? Any suggestions from Tuggers would be welcome. We'll be there from Mar24-31!

Figure about 3 1/2 hours, depending on the stops you have to make along the way. The ride thru Sanibel to Captiva may seem like the longest part of the trip! Shelling on Sanibel is usually better than Captiva, just the nature of the beaches. I think the sand and the water are nicer on Captiva, but not the shelling.
