downgrade to smaller villa? [RCI to DVC exchange]

I currently have an RCI exchange into a one bedroom at a DVC resort, but really only want a studio. The reason is because I actually ended up with two one bedroom exchanges (long story) at the same resort and I would like to have a studio and one bedroom that lock-off. Is this even a possibility?

No - the resorts will not alter an exchange - you would have to make a new exchange to change your unit.

Are you sure, Denise? Is this just DVC thing? I just changed my exchange into Pollard Brook through Trading Places from a one bedroom to a two bedroom. (I originally deposited a 2 bedroom. A one bedroom was available for the dates we wanted so we grabbed it back in January, but really wanted a two bedroom. Just last week- 2 weeks before check-in- I saw a two bedroom available on-line for the exact same resort and dates they took back the one bedroom and gave me the 2 bedroom no charge)

Maybe the OP should call and ask anyway?

DVC will not make changes in an exchange, but RCI may, however, the OP will most likely have to pay another exchange fee.

In your situation - it sounds like Trading Places made the change - not the resort.

*Resorts are not supposed to alter exchanges.

DVC is well known for not changing anything about a confirmed exchange---check in day, view, etc. They just don't work that way.

RCI could potentially swap a 1BR for a studio, but only if DVC deposits one. That's unlikely, because studios book first internally.

Call the DVC resort about 10 days before checkin and ASK for the 2 1bdr units to be NEAR each other as you are a family travelling together.

Lockout units are over-rated ... I rather have 2 KING size beds over a 1 king and a Queen (most studios have that size bed).

As for kids and Disney ... count ANY sleep they gets as better than none. Wait, that applies to the adults, too!

Maybe I will just cancel the one exchange as I really don't need it. It is just two people going.
