Don't want to jinx it, but CA and NV got snow in the last 24 hrs.

For those on the East Coast, probably no big deal, but we got enough snow in the Sierras over the last 24 hours, that some ski resorts will be opening this week.

In CA/NV, we are REALLY happy if ski resorts are open by Thanksgiving, so to open the first week of Nov. is a miracle.

Of course, of more importance is that we desperately need the precipitation. Predictions are for a wet El Nino winter - keeping my fingers crossed.

My buddy sent a vid of him driving through Truckee. It was coming down, not just flurries!

It rained here most of yesterday (same storm that came through California) and changed over this morning to the first snow of the year. It's VERY welcome. The ski resorts are forecasting opening for Thanksgiving, but that's pretty optimistic given the history of the last few years.

I have some geraniums to get cuttings from and get into some rooting hormone, and a huge begonia basket I'd like to get inside for as long as it will keep blooming. Right now, they're both under 2-3 inches of wet, heavy snow.

We were so excited to see the pictures! Fingers crossed that the forecasters are right about this El Niño. I think that we are all so tired of this drought, and I bet that everyone else is sick of hearing us complain about it.

We'll be in Truckee just after Thanksgiving. We're hoping that it keeps snowing. :)

Yes, please don't jinx it. It seems to me that the ski resorts are really jumping the gun here. I mean, the weather folks were crowing about 6 to 10 inches of snow in the Sierra. It seems to me that they used to talk about needing a 6 to 10 foot base, just to start grooming and turning on the snow machines.

With the drought, they might never open if they wait for 6-10 feet! The reports also say they got as much as 2 feet at the highest elevations, and they are making snow like crazy.

I heard on the radio this morning that kids in the school zone around Mt. Charleston (near Vegas, in Clark County) got a snow day today! They got a SNOW DAY!

Here's the link to the Mt Charleston Ski Slopes webcam: http://www.skilasvegas.com/winter/resort-info/mountain-info/webcam

It was raining this morning in Vegas. Now (mid day) it's nice and sunny.
