Does W57th have any type of kitchen facilities? At the very least I could make do with a microwave, small frig., and a few dishes.

I'm getting a little dispirit. The Manhattan Club just has too many problems and I'm willing to pay the extra points for W57th. But with two little ones we won't make it without at least the bar minimum.

I am assuming you have Hilton City Points then, because I have not seen it available to regular HGVC members yet, let alone to RCI.

By the way what is the problem with the Manhattan Club? Just wondering.

I own atthe Hilton Club New York (in The New York Hilton). W. 57th Street is modeled on these. There is no microwave, no kitchen, no refrigerator. If you ask them at check in they will put a small refrigerator in your unit. They serve a continental breakfast in the Hilton Club lounge, which includes pastries, bagels, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, cottage cheese, coffee, tea, and juices. They also serve appetizers and drinks starting at 5:00. This is all included. The rooms do have a coffee maker.

Oh, I just realized they don't open until May 2009. I'm planning on a club reservation - 44 days before check-out.

The MC is plagued with problems. We stayed there about 1 1/2 years ago. I absolutely loved the location. I really considered spending another two weeks this year but I just didn't want to deal with the problems.

To name a few:
1. maids leaving doors unlocked and opened even after repeated complaints to management.
2. really dirty rug
3. really really slow elevators-we used the service elevator which often was hauling piles of trash.
4. concierge providing bad information
5. always had to wait to get the doorman's attention to be let in (my daughter was in a stroller and we couldn't go through the circular door.
5. an extra $25.00 a day for "housekeeping"

We had such a great time in NYC that I didn't let the above dampen my stay. However, the problems we experienced were such an ongoing, daily occurance that I dreaded having to deal with it again.

Furthermore, while we had no problem getting back to back weeks I talked to a number of owners had a difficult time getting a reservation.

I've seen the same complaints I've had pop-up on TUG recently which has really made me think twice about going back.

Planning is not a good word. Hoping might be more realistic. There is no experience to tell us that there will be any availability. In that situation I would have to assume that access will be very limited to non-existent, unless of course you own there directly.

As an Elite member I had Hilton Club access in NY for a year. Even with earlier access I could rarely get a 3 days together at the 6 month mark let alone the 45 day mark.

Are they taking HOME reservations for May 2009 and beyond yet?

We're really flexible. If something pops up then we'll be there. Even with the increase in airfare we can still get to NYC pretty easily. We're willing to go when others are less likely to go.

They also keep contacting me with a deal if I do the tour thing. I was all set to do it and I remembered to ask about the kitchen. I think the guy I spoke to was working out of Orlando and didn't know for sure.

When I visited the New York Hilton Club on 38th St(?) they didn't have any type of kitchen to speak of. We had seriously considered buying & I still haven't completely ruled out W57th. But with two little ones I really need a kitchen. They tried to convince me that nobody cooks when they come to NYC :). But at the very least I need to be able to reheat those giant sandwiches from Carnegie Deli. :)

... or at least refrigerate them. :) I am with you about a few kitchen type amenities. I was hoping for at least a refrigerator to keep my sodas cold.

Let me try to answer some questions. We own on 57th. They have started taking reservations for home week only. They only weeks with any availablity that I can see for my Studio is July 3rd and 10th.
There is no kitchen or microwave. I don't care but I understand why you would.
I doubt you will be able to get in without direct ownershipfor at least a few years as the cost is high enough that people will want to use their points there and not trade somewhere else. It will also be full with people like me wanting to try it out after spending that much money. I plan to use those points there each year and trade my Flamingo points to other places.

I don't understand why units don't have a small microwave and small refrigerator. Even Hampton Inns have those, and they're not timeshares!
