In my experience, there is limited summer available if at all. Over winter there is some.I'm looking to purchase rci points account but not sure if it will have what I'm looking to trade into with points. In your experience does rci have availability for the San diego/Carlsbad resorts?
Agreed. Strongly.A general timeshare rule of thumb is that if you want to stay regularly at a popular destination and season, you should buy a resale that provides direct access [...] I think it's applicable in North County San Diego, particularly during summer and Christmas/New Years.
New Years in Carlsbad is a literal ghost town. Shockingly so.A general timeshare rule of thumb is that if you want to stay regularly at a popular destination and season, you should buy a resale that provides direct access rather than relying on exchange companies. That's a general rule so there certainly are exceptions, but I think it's applicable in North County San Diego, particularly during summer and Christmas/New Years.
where do people go?New Years in Carlsbad is a literal ghost town. Shockingly so.
We own a fixed week 52 in Solana Beach, and that has equally high demand as summer as indicated by trade value. On the occasions when we deposit for exchange, it usually taken almost instantly. When we have used, the resort is almost always fully occupied.New Years in Carlsbad is a literal ghost town. Shockingly so.
The same was true for Christmas/NYE when I owned Four Seasons Aviara in Carlsbad. Those weeks were snatched up by owners as soon as the reservation window opened up for owner reservations.
Here’s Interval International’s travel demand index for the area.

Yes, there’s higher demand than availability for the holiday season.Iirc the Four Seasons includes weeks 51/52 in gold season, where they are easily the highest TDI.
