Does previous owner's reserved week transfer to new owner for Marriott resale deeded week?

How does it work if I was going to try to purchase a first use year 2025 resale deeded week at the end of 2024? I imagine I would have to rely on the previous owner having made an advanced reservation for 2025, but would that reservation transfer to me as a new owner of that week or would it get cancelled? Also, if it does transfer, would I have to occupy that reservation or would I still have the ability to deposit it into II?

I've searched all over and haven't been able to find the answer to this question. Thanks for the help!

When I sold 2 weeks last year I already had the next year’s weeks reserved. The buyer wanted to be able to use them. I wrote it into the contract. There is a Marriott form that had to be completed by the seller authorizing transfer of reserved week(s). The closing company handled it all. Used LT Transfer which is mentioned often.

My opinion is in agreement to your decision as a seller to have reservations in place for the buyer’s first year of use and transfer the reservations to the new owner. I have encountered many sellers who say they did not make a reservation for the next year so the new owner could reserve the week they wanted. Nice idea, but it doesn’t work well that way. By the time the sale is closed, there are no higher demand weeks for the new owner to reserve. In the case of weeks with higher demand reservations, the new owner can use the weeks rent them or trade them. I would prefer any of those choices as a new owner to reserving after the sale when there are no desirable weeks available. In the past, I have paid too much attention to the seller’s lowest price rather than take into consideration the reservation in place for my first year of usage.

We purchased a resale week and the reservation had been made by the previous owner. As above it was all spelled out in the contract and the reservation transferred to us when the week was transferred to our Marriott ownership account. The transfer company handled all of it.

Who did you use for all the paperwork? Did you purchase through a site or broker?

For most situations I use LT Transfers. Cheapest I've seen for most circumstances and they do an excellent job. If you buy from a broker they often designate who you use, often an in house group or someone who shares the profits with them. Just build that in to your pricing considerations where applicable.
