Ugh, I don't want to hear this. There's no flour to be had for love or money near us, and I have half a bag of whole wheat and half a bag of White Lily that expired in 2018. It tastes okay.

I actually found a bag of bread flour. Last one in the store. But the problem is the only yeast we have expired years ago. DW said she'd proof it and see if it bubbles. If so I see some sourdough starter in my future. If not, a quest is launched.

I had a lot of all kinds of flour and yeast and sugar in our extra freezer in our former family home and I had to toss it all when we moved to the rental. Now I can't get anything- except the whole wheat bread flour and cornmeal from the grist mill.

I honestly do not use all purpose flour much and it is not worth buying. But I wish I could find white bread flour as it is easier to make then whole wheat.

Anyway, the chest freezer we have now in the garage is too small to be storing flour and sugar in.

Try local restaurants. One our area added groceries from their wholesale provider in addition to takeout of their fare. One always has flour, eggs, TP and Paper towels. They also provide curb-side pick-up.

I follow some bread baking boards on Facebook. A guy recently posted that he had found a 21-year-old jar of yeast at the back of his fridge. We were all betting on whether it would still be good or not. (I said it would be--it was the kind in a dark glass jar and had been kept cold all this time.)

It was fine! He made a beautiful loaf of bread with it.
