Does anyone have any idea what's going on with Margaritaville Orlando?

100% resale!!
They said in 2017 that they were building 300 timeshare units (I'm assuming MVC) and the website selling individual villas has 144 units listed "under contract" instead of being an "available lot".

I haven't seen any other announcements that explain what's going on.

Can’t say that I’ve heard anything about a MVC Wyndham in Orlando. The only site I’m aware of that is currently under development for MVC is the Atlanta location.

This is a full ownership community unrelated to timeshare or Wyndham. Its more like a condotel kind of setup.

Wyndham simply does not need inventory---they have a exclusive contract to develop timeshare under the Margaritaville name.

But they have done something like this before at Reunion? I mean, a timeshare is also a condo. I don't see why it isn't possible they aren't buying a number of units to make available in CWP.

But buying units that are built by another developer taking on the risk might be a better strategic move? They can sell the units, take a slice and the builder/investor also earns a profit.

Margaritaville licenses its name to a lot of different business models. Yes, if condo sales were failing, Wyndham could swoop in and convert to a timeshare, or Marriott could do it and rebrand it, etc.

144 of 300 homes are under contract per the OP, so my presumption is that it is going to survive as whole owned homes.

Yeah it doesn't look like there is any plan currently to include timeshare units there. The Margaritaville brand is so splintered into a billion different unrelated companies and businesses its hard to keep them all straight!

I don't think I saw the 300 timeshare units number sourced anywhere except a single Orlando Sentinel article in 2017, and never from Wyndham. So I think what's going on with it is that it has nothing to do with MVC, and doesn't include any actual timeshare units (though surely some vacation condos that can be rented by the week).
