Do you rewash all the kitchen items, what about the coffee pot or kettle?

I usually wash all plates, glasses, silverware, pots, pans etc before we use.
But, I never thought about the coffee pot or tea kettle.

I was on a FB site about cooking in hotel rooms. Someone posted a pic showing a bunch of hot dogs warming in the coffee pot filled with water and the buns sitting on top to get steamed. Ok...not to bad.

But, the follow up was from someone who used the electric tea kettle to clean her undergarments after they got a bit messy.

Ugh......

Most of the time now it's just hubby and me so I always wash two coffee mugs, two glasses, two plates, utensils for two and yes the coffee pot. I use the same ones all week.

I also wipe down the remote, the door knobs, toilet seat, chairs and table.......I could go on and on :D - I don't go too crazy but yes, give it a quick wipe.

We normally will rewash all plates, cups and silverware after checking into the resort. While the dishwasher is on; we then will head off to dinner or for a late lunch..

I do the same, plus any other dishes and kitchen tools I anticipate using.

If I use it, I will wash it prior. You just can never know what someone else used it for.

No I don't. And I'm still alive.

We are too.....but we have also been forced to down time on vacation due to getting sick. I will reduce my chances by making sure the room we stay in is clean as possible.

I bring a small can of Lysol and spray down areas commonly touched too.

Times 2....everything always looks so sparkly clean that I never thought about it.

On the other hand, would never fly without sanitizing the seating and tray table area.

I must like to live dangerously. I don't worry about any of that.

Depends on the timeshare, I usually rinse off dishes as we use them and put them in the dishwasher. If no dishwasher then yes I wash the dishes before using silverware and cups too.
We bring bathroom cups and paper plates and cups if we drive to a resort. I also check the beds to see if the sheets are clean. Used to do the inventory as requested but doesn’t seem to be a thing anymore.

I just read about the washing-the-underwear-in-the-coffee-pot thing on a Marriott board on FB. What the heck? Who would even think of doing that? There's a bathroom with a sink RIGHT THERE!

We wipe down everything especially the remote and phones with wet wipes. I also do the same on planes.

I have been hit and miss on cleaning dishes prior to use, but now will make it part of our check in.

When we checked in to our current stay at Sheraton Vistana Villages. Two of the bowls in the cupboard were noticeably dirty. Looked like tomato soup on them. This was obvious. I found out when I went to load the dishwasher up that the reason they probably were dirty is because the previous guests, or perhaps cleaning staff was too lazy to wash them by hand. The dishwasher was not fastened in under the counter. I could pull it out. So we called maintenance and they came and fixed it. I washed everything in the cabinets. I won't usually do this, but I often rinse off items before first use.

Lol. I thought I must be the only one.

It's never occurred to me to wash it. I live under the illusion that the prior guests put everything in the dishwasher before they left. If something was noticeably dirty I would definitely, but if it looks clean I assume that it's clean.

It's a freakin' vacation. I'm not going to go around re-cleaning everything in the unit as soon as I arrive.

Do not clean anything in the timeshare. Not going to worry about it. How many people clean the tub and/or toilet.

We don't use the tub, but the toilet I certainly Lysol down, especially the flush lever.

Funny thing is tonight I went into the silverware draw in my house and noticed all the crumbs and decided to clean it out. If I would have found THAT many crumbs in a TS...I would have complained. But...they are my crumbs :) In all fairness, TS are cleaner than my house, especially the refrigerator. But, nope......visions of stupid people licking spoons and putting them back in the draws will get me to wash it all.

When I arrive at a vacation spot my visions are of the beach, getting a drink, walking the neighborhood. I'll admit it, I'm not a neatnik.

If I find a dirty dish, I stick it in the dishwasher. I think I once found two dirty dishes so I suspected the dishwasher button didn't get pushed at all and the cleaning ladies either didn't notice (not like they had dried spaghetti or egg on them, it was semi-subtle) so I checked every plate and then washed the silverware and a few glasses since we'd have our mouths on those. Knock on wood, we've never had a dirty unit, some well worn furniture, but always visually clean. On the other hand we have cat hair wafting through the house and the darn kitty litter tracked everywhere too, so my standards are pretty low!

Our world is covered in germs. Everywhere we go, everywhere we touch, in our home, out shopping, everywhere. Our bodies over time have built up immunities to these germs. Being exposed to them keeps the immunity built up. I won't eat off of a clearly dirty plate, but we don't ususally run everything back through the dishwasher if it otherwise looks clean.

There’s a point when being to clean is worse for you as we need some germs to give our defense system something to fight

We use anti bacterial soaps in the kitchen but not everywhere in the house for the same reason

Look at homeless people eating literal garbage and still surviving
