Currently, I'm vacationing at Wyndham Nashville. On checkin day, I was told this is a RCI Service Center, which means there are people here who ensure that guests understand how to use the Wyndham system and are satisfied, etc.

The RCI Service Center rep asked me who my Wyndham advisor was - as far as I know , I don't have one (my resort is not a Wyndham resort). He was quite surprised and proceeded to explain that during the 2006 Wyndham buyout of RCI, all RCI members should have received invitations to information sesssions that would explain Wyndham's plan and the benefits of having Wyndham points.

He offered to find out if I had ever been assigned an advisor and if I was even eligible to buy into the Wyndham PIC system. Unfortunately, the times he was available didn't work for me. I sat through a Wyndham speal last month and got a price for getting my non-Wyndham week into their program that was too high to even consider. This guy acted like I was cutting off my nose despite my face by not taking the time out of my vacation to meet with him in the hopes being eligible to buy into the Wyndham program and I better be prepared to only go to my home resort within the next several years because soon there won't be any exchange pool.

Does everyone but me have a Wyndham advisor?
Did anyone attend one of these info sessions?
Will the number of weeks and resorts available for exchange through RCI dwindle down to nothing?

TIA

Standard Wyndham sales misinformation AKA lies.

If interested in Wyndham, don't use a salesman to explain the system.

I did not go to one that was worded like yours. However, I have been to a couple that were pushing RCI priveldges. What it sounds like they were describing was the RCI Weeks program that was associated with Wyndham Vacation Resorts system. The new portal etc. came into play. That created pre-portal pool and a post portal pool. The old system no longer received new deposits, they had to go through the new portal system. The weeks banked under the old system had to be used from the old reservation pool.

"Does everyone but me have a Wyndham advisor?" This sales pitch has come up at a number of resorts. One person identifying himself a sales manager in Myrtle Beach, said that they used that at one point, he said it was just a pitch and meant nothing.

"Will the number of weeks and resorts available for exchange through RCI dwindle down to nothing?" It is my understanding that this is correct for the pre-Wynhdam/RCI portal deposit pool. New deposits under the Wyndham/RCI portal will continue.

Service is what bulls do to cows.

We bought our first Wyndham contract in 1995. Since then, we've had at least fifteen Wyndham advisors. They are advisors until you get out the door and their only advice is to buy more points. After you collect your bribe, you're on your own. Welcome to TUG, your best source of advice.

You aren't cutting off your nose, you are cutting into his chance to make money from you.

If you are staying at a Wyndham resort, the sole purpose of any update or meeting is to sell you Wyndham points. The personal Wyndham advisor is a commonly used ploy by Wyndham sales to leverage separating you from your money. It's not even permitted by the Wyndham sales policy to do it. Supposedly the guy could get fired for using that ploy... but they don't care so long as it works and you buy. We are lucky to have access to Wyndham's Sales Compliance Policies right here http://mywyndhamlawsuit.com/wyndhams-compliance-policies/ They disregard these all the time. You may find the rest of that site very interesting as well.

If you want to buy Wyndham points, I strongly suggest you stay away from the sales staff. Spend lots of time reading the Wyndham section in the forum here and at the Wyndham Owners forum. Make sure you understand the program before you make any decisions. With resale prices what they are in this market, many people find that resale is a far better choice than retail.
If you really want a retail purchase, learn the tricks those sales weasels use, so they don't get the better of you.

For now, just say 'no' and unplug your resort phone. No one has a personal account manager from Wyndham. We are on our own.

Seriously, I owe so much to the forums. We really did not understand what we owned before we got stopped in our tracks and spent hours reading and learning. I learned a lot from you, Ron and you got here after I did
