We both grew up in Lake Worth and still own property there. As most places it has greatly changed over the years. The city taxes are high as it the utilities. It would not be my first choice in looking for a home.

So I know you stated you prefer north of this area but if you had to pick an area between, Boca, Delray, Boynton and Lake Worth would any have a preference over the others? I am going to land in one of these areas for the time being and just trying to figure out which would be best.

MY Vote is for Delray Beach or Boynton Beach.

Can I ask why.?
Yes, I feel those two communities are more upscale than Lake Worth and have better ammenities. First choice Boynton Beach, second choice would Delray. Beach.

Lake Worth would be last on my list, the east area has gone downhill in recent years. I could go on and on but not the proper forum for that. If you really feel the pull to go there I’ll be glad to pm you. Boca can be pricey and I don’t think the extra cost is worth it. . That brings me to my top 2. I think both have nice areas so it really depends on what you find. Delray has more downtown activities ( pre Covid) but if you have to drive to get there it doesn’t matter. I’m not sure but think Delray has higher city taxes, which doesn’t matter if you can get in the county zone ( more to the west). Anywhere the closer to the water, the more expensive with cost, taxes and insurance but the perk is being closer to the water. Have you considered renting for a year to get to know the area?

Yes am thinking of renting. Doing lots of research on this side. Hopefully late September will come for a week to look around. If uncertainty occurs or if I cannot find a house in the community I want, renting it will be. I want to move ideally October but realize it could be November.

Right up front, Boynton Beach was my first pick, not waterfront but inland a bit. Considered the other areas to have an open mind on additional option.

West Coast I love but with my obligations being on the east coast for now will have to do. Close enough to visit the west coast often.

There are many neighborhoods to choose from so hopefully you will find the perfect one. Sounds like you will be in the county so avoiding the higher taxes. Keep asking questions!
We are in WPB, south west end.
