Do you ever dress strangely (on purpose) when you travel?

When flying to NYC a few years ago, I wore a calf-length solid black dress, black hose, black shoes, with a zebra print scarf and jungle handbag and tons of good-looking costume jewelry.

It was fun to watch people speculate about who I was.

I always dress conservatively (blazer w/ no tie or business casual) when flying. It occasionally helps at the gate counter in obtaining a no-cost operational upgrade to first class.

When I see others dressed in unusual outfits, I'm more likely to wonder what they were thinking when they got dressed than who they are!

Bearing in mind how early we have to be there to check in they're lucky I'm not still in my jimjams.

I dress as comfortably and casually as I can, but still 'neat' looking..especially on looooooong flights. Loose jeans, T shirt, sweater or light jacket, socks for the flight and slip on/off shoes (for security checks and comfort).

I usually fly in sneakers, sweatpants and a T-shirt. Why? Because it's comfortable and the sneakers are about my only shoes that don't set off the metal detectors.

Flying nowadays is uncomfortable enough that I figure I might as well dress to make up for the hard seats, narrow seats, lack of recline, packed cabin, etc. And, frankly, because I really don't care if others judge me or assume things about me due to the way I'm dressed.

If it's cold, I also will bring my ski jacket or some other kind of jacket to wear when I get to my destination.

I am going to the Ritz Carlton in Naples for High Tea in a couple of weeks with a group of ladies. Plan to wear a purple suit with a red scarf, red shoes, red handbag, red hat with a purple scarf. I think that is mighty strange attire and hope I don't run into anyone I know.

Pat you are NOT dressed strange when you go out with a Red Hat Group! You are going out to treat yourself to a good time. I dress like that once a month when our group goes out. A week ago, 15 of us went on a buffet cruise down the Caloosahatchee and had a great time. We have gone bowling (now THAT was strange dressing for that) and had a ball (no pun intended), we've gone mini-golfing and lots of shopping and to plays and movies in our Red Hat outfits.

Just like the commercial...

When my son and I flew to England/Scotland to stay for a month during December and January we looked like the fellow in the commercial. Because we like to travel with minimal luggage we wore jeans over a pair of lightweight slacks and a zipout lined jacket over a sweater over a shirt. Leaving from California we couldn't wait to take the layers off once we were on Virgin Atlantic.

Skirt & Blouse

I like to wear a pretty pink blouse and full skirt when I fly. However, when I do, my wife always request seating in a different row and says she would prefer a different airplane. Personally, I think she is narrow minded.
