I own Westgate Lakes - 4 bedroom - lock off - actually which is one 2 bedroom and two studio units per II, for exchange purposes.
I own Marriott Ko Olina- 2 bedroom - lock off- actually - one which is a 1 bedroom and one studio unit per II, for exchange purposes.

Today I went through a sales presentation at Westgate Smokey Mountain resort, Gatlinburg. I was told that at least in the new buildings- 5000 and up- a 2 bedroom unit is a lock off with 2 one bedrooms per II, for trading purposes. The Westgate sales agent did say that one of the 2 bedrooms of the 2 bedroom unit is considered to be of a higher quality than the other 1 bedroom unit- but both contain full kitchen and full washer/dryer facilities.

I am not 100% I understand what you are asking. A 2BR will generally have better trading power than a 1BR. In II, size is perhaps the biggest determining factor in trade power. I know Westgate has some odd unit configurations, at least when compared to Marriott and Vistana. We were offered a four bedroom lock off, really just four 1BR units in what they claimed was an every year use every two year maintenance fee. Really it is just an EOY deed.

Except for II, no one really knows how II calculates trading power. I wouldn't put a lot of creedence into what the sales reps were telling you.

Several of Vistana resorts have 2BRs that lockoff into 1 large (premium) BR and 1 small (deluxe) BR, both will kitchen, washer and dryer. Sheraton Desert Oasis, Westin Kierland, Westin Mission Hills and Westin Desert Willow are a few examples. The premium side has higher trade power than the deluxe side.

Westgate Smokey Mountain Resort has a 2 bedroom unit like the 4 examples mentioned above.
The question is how does the smaller of the 1 bedroom unit exchange via II- into another 1 bedroom or just into a studio unit.

It all depends on the trade power. Every resort, location, and room size has different trade power.

I am not sure there is any significant difference. If you are considering buying Westgate, I would think twice. I know there are some people out there than can extract some value from their Westgate timeshares. With the exception of prime fixed weeks at certain resorts, they have $0 resale value and are nearly impossible to get rid of.

Always remember that the ability to use II at all, and any trading power is a discretionary benefit and can be removed or adjusted (down or up) at any time.
Don't buy WSM or any Westgate as a trader as you can get them so easily via getaways that you will get lower trading power based on the supply vs demand factor in Trading power and their maint fees aren't cheap.

I don’t own Westgate, but I‘ve stayed in a 2 bedroom unit at the bottom of the hill at Westgate Smoky Mtn. By II standards, it would lock-off into a 1-bedroom unit and a studio unit. I don’t know about their newer units.
