I remember reading that nights booked with MRP would begin counting for elite nights? Has this been put into place? OR just a rumor?

A different question: what about nights booked using the annual cat 1-5 e-certificate that you get for holding a Chase Marriott credit card? Will those count as elite nights? I don't remember seeing info on that.

Yes. People have reported here getting the elite night credit for the credit card anniversary certificate.

What about Encore packages?

So, do we think that encore package stays will be the only nights that don't qualify as elite nights?

As far as I know, Encore Package stays still do not qualify.

I think there are also a few others, such as travel agent rates, airline crew rates, and nights booked through most third party booking sites.

I have a buddy who works for Marriott and I have used his Friends and Family rate on occasion and they too do not generate elite nights.
