I just received closing docs for my resale week and it appears there are 2000 LCUP points that expire on 10/4/2024. Anyone know if those will transfer too?

thanks

Probably….

When I purchased twelve years ago magically a bunch of LCUP points appeared in my account a few months after transfer. I don’t think they were indicated on the estoppel letter. I was surprised when I saw them.

You should call and ask because sometimes the estoppel letters are incorrect.

Yes. When I have purchased, they came with existing LCUP points.

Thanks everyone!

This is my first HRC ownership.

Are the LCUP points are only good for reservations made in the next 60 days? If so, I should probably hold off on requesting that the current owner make one since the transfer process will probably take at least 60 days?

The LCUP points are on the estoppel.

Does HRC have a dedicated phone number? I have the seller's account info from the closing docs?

1 800-GO HYATT. I hope they will answer your question. Be specific. Tell them you are calling to confirm the information on the estoppel letter is accurate concerning the LCUP points.

Yes, LCUP points can only be used to make reservations 60 days out, which is why they aren't easy to use. How many LCUP points are supposed to transfer to you with the account?

You just want to make sure that the LCUP points don’t expire. If you think that they will expire before your ownership takes effect, you should have the owner make reservations for you.

Congratulations! We love the Hyatt system.
Me too. I love the system but it took a while to understand the rules.

My biggest rule is avoid LCUP.

Hyatt has been good to me both internally and through II. I love the Hyatt properties as does my wife.

I’m figuring out my II strategy for the future.

I voraciously pursue LCUP points because I can use those to visit Carmel for midweek 4-night stays which can frequently be gotten a month or 2 in advance, and is drivable for us. Interval is a nice feature to be able to have for your points, but I have not yet found a use for the 2200 EEE points that came with one of the Hyatts I purchased.

The reason I asked is because when the account transfers to your name with those 2000 LCUP points, give Hyatt a call and explain the situation. Most times they will make a "one-time" exception to allow you to convert those to EEE points for use in Interval, if that appeals to you. I say "most times" because folks have told me they had success with this, and then I had success with it as well, but of course if I said "they will do it," then they wouldn't and you would think "that guy is such a liar."

Steve, you've been so generous with your time educating me on HRC - I would never say that guy is such a liar!

@SteveinHNL May I would suggest you try and trade into Marriotts Newport Coast villas since you like Cali. I think they are 2br only and 1950 points is the most it will take. Spectacular view overlooking the ocean....

We drove there to NCV to check it out because we were in the area, and we didn't love it. I am holding out to get a 1BR at Four Seasons Aviara. Those come out every now and then but I always seem to miss them, they go quickly. I am hoping to get two 1100 point 1BR stays there. We love Carlsbad/Oceanside.

Unless Interval has nothing in the places you want to travel, this shouldn't be hard.

With the recent throttling of the II trade system, burning through 2200 points should be simple -- just pick someplace nice and put in a reservation request for two concurrent weeks close enough to make it a trip. (This is assuming that it's easy to take two weeks off, which is usually the problem.)

We managed to book Villa LaBerge in Del Mar and enjoyed it. The property was great, the unit nice but not fancy and it had no a/c. The problem with that was the Coaster came thru town all night. My review was named "A little bit of heaven, and a little bit of ...". It was too hot to close the windows (in Sept) so we evenutally learned to sleep thru it. The town itself was awesome and close to La Jolla.

Grand Pacific has a lot of locations, and are not fancy, but we also enjoyed Coronado Beach resort.

Do you have to travel by the LCUP expiration date or make a reservation by then - realizing your limited to 60 days out from the date you book it?

That's a good question, I believe the former not the latter, but I'd better let someone with direct knowledge chime in.
