Hello,
I am currently in the middle of a divorce and we had gotten a TS back in the end of 2019 with Welk. Now that we are in the middle of this divorce none of us want anything to do with it and are willing to split it 50/50. What does the process look like or how do I go about selling this timeshare? I don't know the first step into doing this, just that there are a lot of scammers out there.

The first question is: Is it paid off? If not, it is not sellable.

Unfortunately, most timeshares don't have any resale value unless they are one of the top resorts like Westin, Marriott, Hyatt, etc.

If it's paid off, you may be able to give it away - sorry, know that's not what you hoped for.

BEWARE: Anyone who charges you a large upfront fee to sell your timeshare is RIPPING YOU OFF - it's a common scam.

If it's not paid off, the best option may be to stop making the payments and let the resort foreclose and take it back.

You can also write to the resort's Homeowners' Association and ask if it will take it back. Explain your situation to the HOA. As Denise mentioned above, make sure it's paid off and the MFs are up to date first.

@Boozer44

I am sorry for your situation.

I know you probably paid $10 - 20K, and you think it has "value". It does not have any value on the resale market. Do not even put it in the list of assets, since it is only a liability.
