I guess they are trying to lure people away from Universal? And there are so many less expensive places off site to purchase Disney merchandise. I’m sure they will be busy though. I’m so fortunate that I’ve been able to renew our DVC annual passes. Tickets are so expensive.....and this park reservation system is a pain. When other family members are going I tell them to purchase thru AAA or undercover tourist. I as surprised when we were renewing at the park last week.....blackout dates for Christmas are now the last 3 weeks in December. Glad we go the first week....cheap points an$ no bkacoutvdares.....for now.

I think Disney is trying to make it easier for folks to buy tickets and official (i.e. expensive) souvenirs offsite (in a location other than the airport). And DVC is trying to make themselves known offsite like other TS do.

Yes, we made sure to renew our APs too - we knew we’d probably visit more than once, and we’re spoiled by always having hopper tickets, so a renewal was much more cost effective than buying date-based tickets, even from UT. We don’t mind the blockout dates around Christmas since we usually avoid going that time of year when it’s just the two of us.

You sent me into a panic! Only last two weeks of December (well...technically 15 days).

Also, to my surprise found out that Disney doesn't call them "Blackout" dates but rather "Blockout". Go figure.

So sorry....have been really tired from unpacking and organizing our house (and that Disney trip really set me back, but could not change it....when I made those reservations last June I figured we’d be in our new house for months ). DH likes to see the Christmas decorations, but I’ve also reserved a studio end of January just in case they do a MK Moonlight Magic. I probably picked the wrong dates.
