“The 30th anniversary of Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 1 and Star Wars Day on May 4 will be among several new dates for Disney After Hours this year.

At Disney After Hours events, certain attractions, experiences and character meet-and-greets remain open after the park's posted closing hours ($125 in advance and $129 on the day of attendance). The events include ice cream, popcorn and select beverages.

Disney After Hours events are held at Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

On May 1, the Hollywood Studios 30th anniversary will include special merchandise, additional character greetings and more food and beverage offerings for purchase.

The event at Hollywood Studios on May 4 will celebrate Star Wars Day, which playfully compares the date, "May the Fourth," to the Star Wars franchise's iconic phrase, "May the force be with you." Guests are encouraged to dress in costumes that fit with the park's guidelines....”

These are NOT free, they come with a charge. They sell tickets to these events. So now sections of the park are closed off from public access, and you must purchase a ticket to access that area, in addition to the park pass you have already paid.

I don't pay for extras in addition to our park passes. It is expensive enough. There has been discussion on various travel boards and speculation that Disney will offer fee based Fast Passes for those that are interested in paying for extras.
