I was able to trade very easily to Maui last year but it seems there is nothing to be able to trade this year or 2013 there.

Is there some reason that trading seems more difficult?

Is trading better with an Interval Gold Membership?

Interval Gold does not give you any trading advantage.

Did you put in an ongoing request? Remember that the online inventory is just the leftovers after all ongoing requests have been filled. The online Starwood inventory never lasts long. I recommend that you put in an ongoing request ASAP.

First you search for the week on the II website like you would normally, and if it isn't available as an instant online exchange, it will automatically ask you if you want to put in an ongoing request. See the II FAQ at the top of the Starwood forum for all the details.

Maui exchanges

Tourism is up on Maui and even WKORV members like us need to plan ahead. We have a few units we have rented out for Spring, but the renters planned ahead in September. We had already booked the units last April. People now are calling and expecting ocean front with three weeks notice. Owners now are filling up the best units and even the resort is running out of inventory for retail rentals on some dates.
