Did the Bay Club have any kind of recent special assessment?

When I log into HGVC I see a MF due for my two Bay Club ownerships. $113 & $175 for a total of $288. Does anyone know of any special assessment?

I don't typically look at my MFs until the fall but saw your post and noticed that I also had an outstanding amount owing. It does look like there was a SA levied but I don't remember receiving anything. Also there is this letter posted but no date on it other than it's listed in the 2024 communications

When I go into the details of my bill, it shows the following, which is a function of the unit size, I believe

What bugs me is that there is no date on anything, when the notice was given, assessesed or due. That's a big issue

LOL. One of the great rationalizations of all time. Read that long sentence right after "primarily a timing issue". LOL. I think that is better than the one people throw out ...
what was it? "depends on what the definition of "is"is" or something like that?

Yeah, this is not a "timing issue" (i.e an expense that originates in one fiscal time period but reverses itself in another), this is an increased cost forever issue.

I just noticed it also. I believe it just appeared in my Hilton online account the other day.

Leave it to a TUG member to bring this to our attention. Never saw it, didn't get any notification from Bay Club or HGVC. Thanks for posting, @jehb2.

It is weird that there is no date on it.

Glad it is not just me. I used to be astounded when I saw things that were supposedly conveying important info posted on the www without a date. Things for which you then have to search to know if that is the latest info or not. Over time, I realized people just don't care how sloppy they are.
At least this makes it pretty clear they are talking about a 2024 event. I see far worse than this in the "when is / was this pertinent" dept. I can imagine some people writing that w/o the 2022, 2023, 2024 mentions

I don’t think it’s sloppiness. I think it’s purposeful.

There is no way I would have come across that notice on my own.

Every HGV resort saw huge insurance increases this year and this is the only special assessment I've heard of. Is Hawaii unique in reserve funding rules that require a special assessment?

Do we have the amounts on the SA for each Bay Club room type? So that I can add them to 2024 MFs.

I'm concerned there is no overall "picture" of the budget presented. Issuing an emergency special assessment mid-year is very strange to me. If there was a budget shortfall, why couldn't it be covered by reserves until the 2025 budget cycle and MFs? Certainly this is going to happen in any case, as there is no way they can expect a reasonable amount of collections mid-year, issued in a rather slapdash method (so they're going to have to pull the shortfall from somewhere). If things are so dire that a mid-year collection was absolutely essential, I'd expect a better overview of exactly what is going on and how it's being managed moving forward.

A side note, I paid it with my Amex Hilton Aspire card and got credited (rebate) already from the card.

Reminder…
With HGVC, bills generally appear online before statements are sent. Historically, we’ve seen this happen with annual club dues, maintenance fees and resale activation fees.

Folks can generally wait until their billing statement/communication arrives (with the actual due date) to pay the fee.

Just received similar bills today and my first thought was that it is some kind of scam. No communication, no explanation—just a request for money. It’s bad enough that they cannot manage within their budget and/or plan accordingly, but it’s even worse that we don’t get any communication about the situation.

Only a vague letter that they forgot to include in the paper bill (And then emailing one with significantly Wrong numbers,) with no actual data supporting the assessment (Which I believe can be reasonable, but they need to show their work.)
