“BEWARE” of Palm Canyon Resort in Palm Springs. It charges…. labeled as “Resort Fees (EXCHGE)” and they charge “3% Tourism Bid Assessment (RST FEE) AND “A TAX RESORT FEE (11.50%)!!!!!!!!! It doesn’t matter even if you do a straight across exchange through RCI or Interval International… they will charge you these fees . As of Feb. 2024 I was charged $30 per day for the resort exchange fee, $3.45 per day for the Tourism Bid Assessment fee, and $ .90 per day for a TAX resort fee.

So one week at their so called resort came to $240.45 for 7 days. I already paid Interval International to exchange my resort for this resort by paying $200+ for a straight across exchange. I have been to this resort several times and I have never paid these fees. They are a Diamond Resort bought out by Hilton a couple years ago who has not yet publicly put their name on it because the resort is out of date and in need of repair. When I asked what the resort fees cover, this is what their list is ;

•Guest Internet Access (many people have unlimited data on their phones not needing their WiFi) I have unlimited data through my own internet.

•Self Parking for 1 car … they have limited parking on the resort… limited cramped underground parking. ( I was told I could park underground if there’s a spot if my car was under 6 ft. My car was under 6ft with the luggage racks and the bar scraped the racks going in and out. I parked on the public street and didn’t use their parking.

•Sports Equipment including basketball, volleyball, & tennis. (Didn’t use)

•PressReader Access (Didn’t use)

•10% discount at the Canyon Spa (Didn’t use….Why would you pay a resort fee to get a 10% discount?)

•Sauna Access (didn’t use

I didn’t use or need any of these. So why am I paying for others who want these. These items should be paid for as wanted. Don’t make me pay their resort use fees.

The front desk manager would not remove the fees she charged to my account. “BEWARE”!!!!!!

Also the tubs are peeling in the bathrooms, kitchens are way too small, the halls and elevator have a horrible odor, the entry doors to our building were never secured… didn’t even have to use my card to get in. When asking for a supervisor I was told no one was there several times.

In RCI and probably in II, there is a section about resort fees. If the amount is not specified, you can always call the resort directly to check.
If the fee is too high, don't exchange into the resort.
