If you sell the underlying timeshare when you have weeks deposited in Traditional DEX, what happens to the weeks on deposit? Are they automatically transferred to the buyer, canceled and or can you keep them and use them before they expire?

Good question. I wonder if this is like RCI or II where you keep you membership if you have a separate account than the corporate account. There is a separate login for DEX EU but I do not remember what it is since I use the main HGVC login.

I joined when DEX said deposit your week and get one week free. Free week expires 12/26 and deposited week expires 12/29. I paid to join so it’s not a corporate account.

From what we've found out from members in our FB group, DEX does not transfer - either the membership or a future reservation. The new buyer (who bought resale) has to buy new points to get DEX. The seller needs to use the deposit/booking before the sales transaction into order for it not to be lost.

No wonder they give you 5 years to use it. 5 years of guaranteed maintenance and exchange fees. What a business.

What if you own multiple deeds and one is sold that had an associated deposit but you still have DEX EU?

In our case they don't seem to be able to identify separate points contracts. Even points purchased resale can be used in DEX if you already have it. I have no clue about how it would work with separate deeds.

In addition to points in Embarc and The Club Trust, DEX works with deeds in former DRI/HGV and at select HGVC affiliates. The OP did not state what they own - points or deeds.

But that is how it seems to work with Collection points. What about actual deeded weeks in DEX? I understand that resale Collection owners can't use DEX, but resale deeded weeks can. No new points required. "Cleaning" "dirty" resale points is what requires buying new points.

Not points, a deeded timeshare which is in DEX Traditional Exchange. The Resort is Plantation Beach Club at IRP.

I would suggest that you email DEX US with your question.

I don't know if this answers the question, but I have an LV Polo Towers deeded resale week that I have used in DEX. DEX use has allowed me to drop Interval International for trading.
My question, What collection is the LV Polo Towers in?

But if you own a deeded week, then your week isn't actually part of any collection. The US Collection owns deeds at Polo Towers, but that inventory is separate from what you own and have access to.

Thanks, so collections are only if you have a points contract?

Correct.

Did you get this email for PT:

"Effective January 2025, the Tier value of your ownership week within Destination Xchange will increase, and all future deposits will reflect this increase. No action is required on your part."

No, I didn't get it. For the past two years my unit has been rated as tier 5. I have used it to trade for a tier 6, paying the extra to make the trade. I have already traded my 2025 tier 5 week, by prepaying the MF last spring. So it might be some time before I find out if my unit is now tier 6(?).

Is there a cost to join DEX? I just acquired a fixed week unit at an old Diamond resort. How do I enroll that week with them?

It's a convoluted process to do it online I would suggest calling them to set up but if you go to the hgvc site on upper right under login will pull up the screeshot below. Select The Club and Owners former diamond and it should be free. I was able to call them and had it set up while I was on the phone with them they had to send multiple confirmation emails, I'm not sure if it was a ongoing system issue or what. But it eventually worked and although they may tell you it will take months to take effect it was done immediately. 877-497-7521 or 800-463-7256 you may have to play the rep. roulette game

As a Polo Towers deeded holder, since 2007, they gave me 10 years of DEX at no membership cost. I didn't ask for it, but do like it.

It's a one bedroom villa. Interestingly, I just checked on DEX for Polo Towers availability and all one and two bedroom villas are showing tier 6 for trades. So maybe they did change me to a tier 6(?)

That is very helpful to know. Is the same true if you are not up to date on your maintenance fees?? For example, if you choose to stop paying your MF and walk away (no loan on account), then any banked weeks that you have with DEX, for future reservations you have booked through DEX, are lost?

Yes, they are lost. The DEX membership has to be active to use booked weeks.
