An outfit named Destination Services has contacted me to rent out my timeshare. The website is located at http://www.destinationservicesllc.com/index.html and to be honest, it sounds much too good to be true. I can’t imagine anyone paying $3600 + Maintenance fees for a week in Las Vegas.

Has anyone ever heard of them, or done business with them. They called from Las Vegas, through California. When the California number is called back, it appears to be disconnected. The Las Vegas number they gave me works, but is it what it seems? The website says it’s based in Mexico.

No money up front, but later a $199 exchange fee would be needed. That’s pretty up front in my book.

Your instincts are good - these are BIG red flags:
*cold call
*upfront fee
*Mexico
*$3,600 + Maintenance fee???

1) REPUTABLE brokers charge a commission out of the proceeds of the rentals - if someone wants the owner to pay a fee upfront, all they are after is your fee.

2) If you "do business" with someone in Mexico, you do not have the protection of American law and you might as well flush $199 down the toilet.

3) The rent they offered you is about 5-6 times the going rate for a very nice timeshare in LA.

Honestly - we see these "offers" every day - don't do it!

Destination Services LLC, timeshare rentals [SCAM]

Like Denise was telling you there are a lot of red flags flying on this pig.

the amount sounds reasonable at $199 bucks, but think of how many scams they can do at that amount.

I am amazed when reading the stuff from Florida AG office about the amounts of money the scam resale outfits are stealing from people.. MILLIONS of dollars over a year period.

good for you in finding TUG and have suspicions about a "too good to be true deal"

Now stick around and read more and if you feel like it tell us some of your experiences.. that is what makes TUG truly great.. :cheer:

so do live in AZ or own timeshare there.. ?? if so where.. you can put that info in your profile so other know a little about whom we are chatting with.

you be the judge

Here is some info that you'll find on the web:

1. According to GoDaddy, that website was just registered in Nov, 2011 per their records. There are few hits on Google for domain name; which is not surprising given the recent date it was created.

2. If you search Google on the name of the website registrant, you will find more info. I found this one especially interesting from redweek, but there are others from Google:
http://www.redweek.com/forums/messages?thread_id=17889

The details from the redweek post sounds surprisingly similar to what you described in your original post. Other links from Google will take you to info that apparently associates that name with GlobalTravelServices.

3. A search of NV State records reveals no such LLC registered to operate in that state. (There are similar LLCs that have been registered over the years, but none exactly for the one listed on the website.)

4. A search on Google does not list any business or other info for the address shown on the website you provided.

Coincidence? You be the judge...
