Going timesharing in Key West in May and would like to go Deep Sea Fishing. Any recommendations?

Hubby went from Key West once and caught some snapper, I think it was, that we ate. But the captain described the Gulf as a large bathtub so you don't really catch anything large there like you might in Hawaii.

I'm sorry, this was years and years ago and I can't remember the name of the boat or captain.

If you go to the marina at KW, next to the Boat House restaurant are several charter boats. We have seen them there for years, so they appear to be reputable. You should be able to arrange when you are down there this time of year.

You might want to check out the Key West forum on Trip Advisor. You can get a number of recommendations there.

Just a thought...

If it's literally "deep sea" (Atlantic) fishing you seek (e.g., for sailfish, dorado, etc.), consider chartering out of the docks on the Atlantic side at Islamorada instead.
Islamorada is (IMnsHO) much more of a sportfishing savvy "mecca" and is just a relatively short drive back "up Keys" from Key West.

On the other hand, fishing in the "skinny" water on the Florida Bay side of the Keys with light tackle can be a whole lot of fun too --- and is my own preference.
As always, YMMV and to each their own.
