Hello all!

Im deeding one of my TS back to the resort for a small ($100) fee. Its a pretty bad trader (alhambra, silver, floating week), and Im going to buy another one thats a better trader.

No loss on the deeding back (except for the $100) because I got it off ebay last year for $1 with no closing or transfer fee.

BUT NOW ... what should I buy?

Right now, we'll be left with:

1. 2 bedroom Poly Isles, Gold Crown, RCI or II, 4th of July week (off ebay)

and

2. 4 bedroom lock off Williamsburgh Plantation, Only II, float week (off ebay)

What do you think would be good to supplement our TS portfolio?

Help desperately needed ...

I see one at the Grand Mayan, MF $829 for a 2 bedroom, no transfer or closing fees.

Bid is $1.

What to buy is more than just what is available. You need to look at what you want to do with it. Most people here trade the TS regularly but trading is alway an iffy thing. So most Tuggers think it is better to choose a TS which you'd want to use much of the time.

For people who want to go many diiferent places, choosing a "mini system" where you can reserve a room at any of the systems many resorts is often a better way of going to many different places than trading.

The biggest mini system is Wyndham but there are many others. Some are very high end and some are more middle of the road.

Take your time. Most of the time getting rid of a TS you don't want is very hard ( many TSs will not accept deed backs). Buying is easy!!

Good Luck

Step back, breathe and decide what type of vacations you (your family) want in the future. Become an expert on ONE region of the country or a particular mini-system. If you treat TS buying with a shotgun approach, you will be pulling buckshot from every vacation.

Sometimes that means renting for a year or so.

Looks like your portfolio could use a good points system. Hyatt, Starwood, Wyndham, Blue Green and many more to chose from that will give you a good internal system to use in addition to you II. Also, why not get a Points property that trades with RCI that way you will have all the flexibility you want.

If looking for multiple resorts go points

The mini-system sounds like a great choice. That means you don't have to depend on RCI/II for the majority of your vacations but have access to one or the other if needed. Go for one with plenty of internal choices so you don't need to pay exchange fees but still enjoy plenty of choices. Wyndham is a very inexpensive buy at resale with 140+ locations. Diamond also has quite a few choices but resale purchase is very complicated and far more expensive. There are plenty of others but most have far fewer resorts internally which limits the value for pure trade use.
