Our parents have a week in Breckenridge. They no longer go skiing and cannot handle the altitude. We are in the process of changing the deed/title from their trust to ours. So far everything is going well but I have one question that I cannot get a clear answer on - what happens to the points in CUP, LCUP and such? It looks like nothing changes and the points just stay with "the unit" since we are just transferring the deed from one trust to another, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer. Thank you in advance for your help.

My understanding is all points and existing reservations transfer to the new owner.

Ultimately you're going to want to call member services and get the answers from them because you're also going to need to discuss how they want to handle the transfer. You need paperwork that they will accept or it won't happen so you might as well start there.

When we purchased ours on the resale market, the previous owner had points on II that she had not used. They were in my account when I first set it up after the closing. I would assume CUP and LCUP would be the same.

Not "all" reservations. Interval reservations are excluded. Your Hyatt and Interval accounts are separate entities.

HRC points, HRC reservations and II points in EEE are within Hyatt's control and should transfer. The subtlety is that when you BOOK an Interval reservation the points move from Hyatt to Interval. So EEE points are retained by Hyatt until a booking.

So the current owner would keep any Interval reservations...and has to consider:
- If the current owner still has HRC contracts tied to the interval account after the sale, they have no complications with an Interval reservation made with points from the sold contract since they keep their Interval account.
- If the current owner sold their only HRC contract, the Interval account would expire at the end of the year and could not be renewed . So if the owner sold their only HRC contract in 2021 they would not still have their Interval account in 2022. If the II reservation is itself in 2022 I believe they would be wise to get an interval GC in their name to ensure they can use the reservation.

Interesting. All is going well with the transfer - I have talked with both HRC and Interval - but no one mentioned that they may considered separate contracts. In fact I have not seen that in any of the reading I have done. There are not currently any reservations in II so it may not matter but it is certainly a question I will ask.

You may have just misstyped - but each deeded unit you own is a "contract" and is tracked separately on your Hyatt account. The Interval account is with Interval and paid yearly out of your club fee. Hyatt basically pays interval with points currency (however that works) once a reservation is made. I don't think points can come back to Hyatt once they are "paid".
