I was just advised with a "Chat" session at my-vacationclub.com that DC reservations will be able to be made online starting this weekend!

I was checking on converting to Marriott Reward Points (I know it's a bad value but there is a reason behind my madness). After getting my information, I threw out the question about when DC would go online.

Below is the "Chat". I X'ed out the agents name:

Customer: Is there any timeframe yet for when Destination CLub Reservations will be available online?
XXXXXX.: Actually, we are going to have that available this weekend.
Customer: Same site? My-vacationclub.com?
XXXXXX.: If all goes well, that's what we've been advised. Yes, the same website.

Guess we can wait and see? I will beleive it when I see it! Sure would be nice!

That will be great! And to be able to see and track our DC points ...
Sometimes the advisors have trouble finding what we are asking for, so it may be a less than smooth roll-out. Hopefully it goes well.

I too will believe it when I see it. We have only been waiting over a year for this feature.:annoyed:

Online is the only way I'll consider using DC points. My schedule doesn't allow me the luxury of calling during hours that are convenient for Marriott.

While I look forward to online access, I have had great luck with off hour chat to get things done.

No sure what you consider convenient, but I have done chat as late as 10PM CST.

I also really like the chat. Can be done in the office during work hours :ignore:

The chat told me they are open all day except 1-3 pm London/UK time. Whenever I tried (mainly European hours) there was someone available and the service was good.

Right now for instance (12:30 AM).

I also prefer to handle my own reservations vs asking someone else what's availabe. I prefer to shop and see what's out there, not have to play 20 questions. Sometimes I get ideas on where/when we want to go somewhere just by seeing what's available. Basically, I like to window shop. I might not take a particular exchange this year but it could be something I look for in the future.

FWIW - I agree 110%. I truly hate having to call. I want to browse, take my time and maybe log back in later to actually pull the trigger on something.

Well, I went there to see if they are actually going to have the online option today as advertised, and guess what....

the site is not available.

That means that they are implenting something new and have to get the new software up and running still (could be a delay, maybe it doesn't work right, who knows). Either way, I'm getting excited! :)

I can get into the site but not everything is working. The last item under "Plan and Book My Vacation" is now "Review or Book My Vacations." Is this new?! Don't remember noticing it before. Regardless, it doesn't do anything for now - if I click on it I get:
Please note that system maintenance is being performed. We apologize that the Reservations area of My-VacationClub.com is unavailable as a result. Please revisit the Web site at a later time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if online DC reservation access really is being made available. Very pleasantly surprised. It's not that I think they're being wonderful by giving us something super-duper special, though. It's that it wouldn't surprise me if we had to wait as long for online DC access as we've had to wait (and are still waiting!) for 13-mos Weeks reservations.

I would expect anything new to be wrought with issues and shutdowns in the early weeks. We know how they rolled out DC, so I expect similar problems with an online system. Remember those long wait times when they first started taking reservations?

The same thing happens with just about any technology change. Sure they can test the heck out of the system, but when you have only a hundred or so testers and then throw tens of thousands of users on the site, there will be some bugs and problems.

I wouldn't expect a big announcement from them up front about this because they won't want people flooding the system at once.

Entire owner site is now down. Can't even log in. There is a message about system maintenance.

I was hold hold for 22 minutes today as even for us "old" loyal owners, the review and book option was off line.
I only wanted the resie number for a week I had already booked - gheeze!

Couldn't you look that up on Marriott.com?

I was able to log on tonight and there is a slight improvement that looks to be in progress. It is a button that I should be able to click (it says it is not yet live) to "View my upcoming Vacation Club Points reservations". It also now has separate tabs for both my wife and myself (though the info under those tabs is the same because we own by joint tenancy).

Today our account is looking the same as yours did last night. Baby steps, I guess, but so far there are a few improvements that I like. When you click on that red "Book My Vacation" link on the first page it brings you to the "My Marriott Vacation Club Portfolio" page with the different owner tabs you're talking about. Under "My Vacation Club Points" you still get a message that the section is unavailable at this time but under "My Marriott Vacation Club Weeks" they've added a column with "Current MVC Election Value" - nice, there's the DC Points value that everyone has been asking for. I'm seeing years 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 with links to good historical data for all past use as well as reminders for current and future use.

So it looks like every function EXCEPT making reservations with DC Points is available at that single page. If they manage to get that up and running we'll all have everything we've been asking for. But, that's a big "IF." :p

That DC Points value has been shown in that column for a while. Along with the button to elect points. I don't think it is new.

The MVC agent I spoke to yesterday said that we will soon (this week) be able to view, book, change and cancel points reservations through the link "View my upcoming Vacation Club Points reservations" that is currently there but dead. He actually said that some MVC customers already have this functionality and they plan to add it for the rest over the coming week.

You're probably right. Last I remember the button to elect points was there but you had to click on something else to get to the Points Value of your weeks.

Very nice. :D

Most of what I need is live and visible now - but we cannot yet use the site to actually USE the visible points to book next year's vacations yet. maybe soon? At least being able to see this all on one page is good.

Isn't that the most important part?

Duh, :ignore: Thx, I was so worried as I needed to deposit yesterday to make it in under the 60 day mark!

I wondered why it now had my husbands name on a tab, but not mine or my kids - DH and I are on all the weeks and we have each of our kids on some of the ownerships????

Okay - my account is up on the website. It doesn't appear that you are able to see what is available to get with your points before you elect to convert to points, however. I might convert to points if I could get a good week somewhere. Otherwise I'd use, trade in II, or rent my weeks. I'm afraid to convert my prime weeks because I may not be able to get the prime weeks i need somewhere else. For instance, I'd be willing to bank or borrow points from Frenchman's Cove for 2013 and 2014 to get a 2 and 3 BR in Aruba in 2014, but it would probably be a long-shot and would leave my extended family up in the air for too long.
