I saw an ad on GregT's sight as I was looking to rent a very small number if 2012 DC points.

This individual was advertising 2000 2012 DC points. She then updated the ad to state that that they are Bonus points and can't be transferred ( she would have to make ressie on buyers behalf).

I did not realize Marriott was giving away more than the 800 bonus points....or as I type...is that just the legacy offer.

What type of bonus points are being offered with straight Trust sales?

It was me that advertised it. We rec'd 2700 bonus points when we purchased into DC. We purchased 2000 DC points... we didn't enrolled our weeks. I think that is why we rec'd more than 800. Hope this is clearer.

And those bonus points, uncertain about the 800 ones, cannot be banked or transfered to another party.

Thanks so much. That is clearer. That is a very nice bonus (if you can use it of course).

The 800 cant be transferred either, BUT they can be combined with transfered points from someone else. I used our 800 for legacy joining plus 175 rented transfer points to book an upcoming get a way with DH ( first in 9 years!)

Marriott not only offers PlusPoints as an incentive to enroll in DC, they also offer them as an incentive to buy DC trust points. When you buy, and depending on current incentives, you can also choose to get one time use PlusPoints or Marriott Reward points. The number of points gets higher the more trust points you buy.
